My first post

Greetings! I just joined this fabulous forum and this is my first post. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts about SXM and wish to thank you for all of your input. It puts a smile on my face everyday.

My first trip to St. Maarten was just a day trip off a cruise ship way back in the 90's. The next two times I've enjoyed the island was with my hubby around 2008 and 2010. I'm happy to say that we are finally getting back to the island June 19th. It might only be for a week but I know that we will enjoy our stay to the fullest. Back in 2008/2010, we stayed at the Sonesta Great Bay (sad that it's no longer there). Even though we chose the AI, we used it as our home base and traveled around the island exploring everyday. This time we'll be staying at the Divi and did not choose the AI. We are so looking forward to relaxing on the beautiful beaches, meeting new people, experiencing new places and getting to know The Friendly Island again.

Welcome to our group. It's nice to have folks you can commiserate with about everything St. Martin.

As you've already discovered, there is a wealth of information passed back and forth between members and don't forget to mention that you are a member of TTOL for possible discounts on the island.

Again, glad you're a part of our group and don't forget to post a trip report when you get back home.

RM - so in case you haven’t already figured it out, some of us are just a little bit crazy. And some of us a whole lot and I guess I would probably fall in the latter category but this really is a good group of people. Participate or not as you feel fit. There’s no pressure to join groups or activities but if you want to, that’s okay, too, and always know there’s a host of good people who will try to answer any questions you might have within their best capabilities. Welcome to the group!! Please, feel free to ask questions!! The more informed you are, the more fun you will have! Close to 20 years ago, or so, my wife found TTOL. We booked our first trip to Divi! Rented from a car place that was recommended by the group. Went ALL over the island in a quest to find all the lovely places that the group suggested!! I think we hit 10 beaches in one day!! LOL!!! There are some new places on the island since your last trip. If you rent a car and we all have our "guy". Friendly reminder, DON'T leave anything in the car!! Your next thread could be, suggestions for places to eat! We know you have your own beach! Have fun!!

We rented a car thru SAX this time. I know I'll have some questions about places. I've written down a ton of restaurants to try from all your suggestions on other posts. I'm so excited about this trip I can barely contain myself!
