I'm shocked, the article states about 500 passengers are onboard and I was expecting roughly double that with all the talk and hype. The ship has a capacity of 2,138 passengers and they had been talking about 50% occupancy. In reality, it's about 25% occupancy.

Of course, the story also says that the ship set sail on SUNDAY, so perhaps the number of pax is also wrong..

Story in the Daily HeraldLink

The number of pax actually makes sense. PJIA reports 2147 arrivals and 1668 departures for Saturday. That is +479 people. Jazzgirl said that the line for COVID/Immigation was long, but apparently tolerable, I'm curious what others who arrived on Saturday think.

There is a guy on the Cruise Critic bulletin board who is on the ship and he posted that there are approximately 600 people onboard.

Just a thought but one reason for the popularity of cruise is what is included in the costs.
Many cruisers find this type a vacation to be of good value.
Throw in the cost to fly to St Martin and maybe the cruise is not such a value.

Also the reason why to spend two weeks in St Martin than one week since you are already there.
That's my reasoning for staying two weeks besides too many restaurants to choose from.

That makes perfect sense to me but it remains to be seen how many hang out for more than a week.......

Some cruise packages include airfare.

They changed which ship is going to be home ported in SXM, after a couple of weeks. It was in the story in the Daily Herald, or the one from the other source, can't remember which. I think there will be about 15 sailings all together from SXM.

The cruise ship sailing out of Philipsburg in the month of June is the Celebrity Millennium. After 3 cruises, the ship will be replaced by the Celebrity Summit. The reason for this is that the Millennium will be heading to Alaska for the cruising that will start there. There are only certain ships that can handle Alaska and Millennium is on of them.
