PREFECTURE OF SAINT - BARTHÉLEMY AND SAINT - MARTIN Liberty Equality Fraternity PRESS RELEASE Saint - Martin on July 26, 202 COVID - 19 / Establishment of a state of health emergency in Saint - Barthélemy and Saint - Martin The Senate has decided the adoption of the state of health emergency in Saint - Barthélemy and Saint Martin until September 30, 2021. This context allows the Prefect to have more flexibility in the application of national measures at the local level, allowing to alleviate or worsen depending on the health situation. A state of health emergency is established on our islands in order to protect our health system. The Louis Constant Fleming hospital remains strongly mobilized and today welcomes 11 patients in the dedicated covid service. The health situation in Saint - Martin is stable, but serious forms requiring hospitalization remain high. None of the people hospitalized is vaccinated. In Saint - Barthélemy, the situation deteriorated sharply last week, following the appearance of clusters among seasonal workers from metropolitan France and having spread the virus during festive activities. The use of dance floors in drinking establishments is also prohibited in Saint Barthélemy, as in Saint Martin. The Prefect recalls that the best way to protect yourself from the epidemic is to be vaccinated. The Galisbay vaccinodrome is open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until August 15.

Crazy. Other than grocery stores and pharmacies, no one wore a mask the last few weeks in any crowded restaurant, bar , etc on either the French of Dutch side. Perhaps nightclub refers to local bar for locals. We went to many and no one had a mask and they were open til midnight or more.

Workers in restaurants on both sides did wear masks.

Where’s the dirty dancing at? I’ve never found good nightlife on the French side of the island.

Only good dance floors are on the Dutchside so not a big deal to close dance floors on the Frenchside.
