This thing is going up right next to El Zafiro. It has a look that doesn't fit in with the neighborhood.

Construction HAS begun.

Leona--Are you sure this is the thing going up next to El Z? It was supposed to be something else and the story says that the project is on Beacon Hill Road. El Z and Beachside are on White Sands Road.

I will take a picture of the sign today when we head to the Yacht Club for breakfast.

OK, if that's what it is, then the DH story is wrong, which is not unusual.

Leona, is this between El Zafiro and BSV, or on the other side of El Zafiro?

Leona,

You're there and I'm not so presumably you're correct but I was told by a local it's a totally different location than adjacent to ElZafiro. I don't think there's enough raw land there for something of that magnitude. It doesn't make sense to me but as I said, I'm not there. I had the definite opinion it was elsewhere but in that general corner of the island but I guess we'll see soon.

and re the heading of this thread - is Topper skirting the law - from what I understand, it certainly wouldn't be the first time if he was......

The one Topper is building next to El Zafiro is a different project and was permitted. Much smaller project.

And I don't believe there's been much progress on that one after how many years?

Yes. I am here.

See Toppers little face in the bottom right corner?

Perhaps there are two builds going. Is he young enough to reap the $$ benefits? Lol

Different project. That has been ongoing for more than a year. The building that you reference, in the article, in your first post is different. They have started demolishing existing structures and excavating but have not started any building.

Leona--Yes, Topper is building that project also, but a totally different one than the one referenced in the newspaper article you listed.

The one next to El Z is I think called the Drake different from Toppers latest exploitation in Beacon Hill of SXM and its laws. We had friends that was going to buy at the Drake and backed out because they felt the construction was not up to normal standard. The Beacon Hill project is just out of place in that area. If its going to be stopped the residents need to get more aggressive because obviously someone thinks they can buy the law or enough people. If it was the French Side they would block the streets with old cars so no work could be done. Just saying. Where is all the money coming from? I had no idea owning a island restaurant was so rewarding money wise.
