New Development after decades of resisting the temptation

New Development after decades of resisting the temptation - 12/08/2021 11:08 PM

Dave and I have an island puppy arriving in Erie, Pa. on Saturday thanks to SXM Paws. We saw the puppy get hit near the salt pond in Philipsburg on Nov. 6th. We pulled over and the puppy came right to us. We took him back to room and got food for him. He was filled with scavanger food...most awful things that could be swallowed. Needless to say, he threw that all up. He was covered with ticks in ears, in his pads, feet all over and fleas. Ticks are SO GROSS...We got flea/ tick shampoo, bathed him..pulled off more ticks.. We contacted SXM Paws. They are the most amazing organization ever. A volunteer came the next day to foster him, then he moved to some other fosters. Got all his shots and vet checks thanks to them. We came home and hoped he would find his forever home on the island. But he has not been adopted and will soon be too big to fly. We were going to bring him home in March when we are going back down. So, Diana of this incredible organizaition figured out how to get him to the states and then Erie. UNREAL. His fosters named him Thor. He is about 2 months old. We have donated to organizations before in St. Martin, but this is the first one that we are giving a forever home to. We have our fingers crossed that our other dogs will accept this sweet island boy. SXM PAWS deserves any support that the wonderful TTOL people can give. SXM PAWS, SXM PAWS Hip hip horray

This is wonderful! So happy to hear another foster fail wink which resulted in Thor finding his forever home.

I have worked with SXM Paws for years. We have transported many kittens and cats. We also have our very own kitty that we found on Orient.

You did a good thing, and that puppy will be a wonderful, loving addition to your pack at home. He knows and appreciates how lucky he is to have this new life and love.

Thank you so much for adopting this dog. There are very few things I can think of that are more satisfying than rescuing an animal in need. One of our dogs is a rescue from I love My Island Dog on the French side.

It is all because of the WONDERFUL peop!e who are with SXM Paws. He is flying tomorrow to NYC!! Then Saturday to Erie. They work so hard to help ANY rescues.. He has grown so much since we saw him get rolled on November 6th on Nisbeth rd. about 3 pm. Actually on our way back from Chesterfields on our 39th anniversary. Can't make it up.... haha

I hope it works out great for you. We have two rescues now, both from here in the US. One of them has been a challenge, from the very beginning, but we love him with all our hearts..

Weather in New York City and Erie bad today...so hopefully puppy will arrive tomorrow! All of our dogs are rescues Carol. We have retired many from the greyhound tracks through the years as well. LOVE them all like you said!!
