Second Breakfast at Reveil Matin

We tried to downsize our breakfast this time, didn't work I guess you get ample portions no matter what you order. I just had 2 eggs bacon home fries and substituted baguette for the toast. My wife had Deux Deux Deux, 2 eggs 2 crepes and 2 bacon both breakfast were great again with great service.

I asked the girl that seated us if she was Kareen and she said yes. I then told her JD wanted me to say hello well her eyes lit up and the smile was huge. The first thing she asked was is he on island and I told her he made the request through TTOL and she told me to send him her love. Now Kareen was not our server today but part way through our breakfast Kareen came over to our table and placed 2 Mimosas on our table and just said "friends of JD". Wow. We went over to her on the way out and subtlety tip her generously as well as our server.
JD if you have any more hellos to pass along I am more than willing to do so.

Wonderful story. J.D. is a class act, being associated with him will definitely pay dividends, as you have experienced. Your reports are very nice.

I would just name drop JD everywhere and see what you get.😄

Thanks for doing that and glad she got you a couple of Mimosas. We first met Kareen when she worked at La Gondola, maybe 20 years ago if not more. It seems like we have almost watched her grow up. She was at Izi (same owner as La Gondola) for a while, then Juliette's Bistro (where I heard someone yell my name a few years as I was walking by and it was her) and she spent some time at Isola before going to Reveil Martin. I was asking around about her on my recent trip as the last I knew she was at Juliette's Bistro and was told she was at Reveil Martin. I stopped in a couple of times but never caught her until late in my trip. I stopped shortly after they opened one morning and had a very nice visit with Kareen. She has a son living off the island and indicated she really enjoyed her position at Reveil Martin and spoke very highly of the owners and how she is treated.

In our 31 years of going to SXM, we have met many people in many different ways. Our first taxi driver and his family have a strong connection to us, we talk regularly and have shared many special (and some sad) times over the years. We have a special connection with a few servers and business owners and employees we have met over the years as well. Kareen has been a constant, always pleasant, does a great job wherever she is working and is a special person. People like her leave a lasting and positive memory. I am glad you got to meet her, thanks for sharing your experience.

We found Reviel Matin shortly after they opened a few years ago, it is owned by Daniel of Daniel by the seas and has some Canadian connection but not sure of what the connection is. Daniel’s wife owns and operates the spa across from Burger King on Billy Folly, it is also excellent. Our normal routine is morning walk and breakfast at Reviel, we also got to know Kareen very well, the first year she was working Reviel in the morning and Izi at night, the next year she had left Izi and was doing the night shift at Isola and this past year she indicated that she only worked at Reviel Matin. She is indeed a good person. Her colleague Jullliett is also a real sweetheart.

As for the food it is tasty and a real work of art, absolutely we share as the portions are generous.

That is the ownership I was aware of as well. Glad you have met Kareen as well. She is a go-getter for sure. She indicated she was very happy with her current schedule and job. I do not know Julliett but I think I did talk to her as Kareen was a little late coming in one day and she made sure her co-worker knew to call her if I stopped by and she was not there.

I would agree 100% with all of the accolades said and given to the food and staff at Reveil Matin, just a great place!
