Where to stay in Orient Beach Area?

Where to stay in Orient Beach Area? - 02/16/2023 08:29 PM

Hello everyone, I haven't posted for quite awhile, but have jumped on to keep up with everyone's posts. My wife and I have been frequent travelers to SXM since 2004 but not so much since 2019. We're ready to make plans to go back this year and could use some help figuring out where to stay in the orient beach area. Could you give recommendations for a location that would be close to the beach and have a kitchenette where we could do some cooking in the room? Also, we've never done an airbnb but are wondering if there are suggestions for one of those in the area. We'll be renting a can for visiting other areas of the island but would really like to stay within walking distance of the beach. In 2019 we stayed at Plantation with a reservation through Jim Ruos (God bless him, was such a nice guy.) We enjoyed that but wondered if there are good places closer to the beach. Thanks for your help. We've really appreciated all the trip reports and great help from this board through the years as we've planned our vacations.

Vrbo/Airbnb are good sources. There are also a couple of agencies that have nice properties. Island escapes and st Maarten villas are two. You can get a map of the on area on one of those sites and see where the property is located. There are many rentals available close to beach and orient village.

Lancer--Jim Ruos was the best, agreed. A total gentleman.

bostonbob--For sure, there are many properties within walking distance from Orient Beach, mostly on VRBO.

We always rent one of the apartments above Petit Casino. We absolutely love the location.

second recommendation for So Chic Villas
after hours of looking at smaller places in Orient, Cote Chic was our choice using only one of the bedrooms,
we are looking forward to our stay and maybe spending more time in Orient than if we stayed elsewhere

We rent a ground floor apartment in Orient Village through Air B&B. 10 minute walk to OB, and we love having a washing machine on the premises.

Hey smile Thanks so much for the replies. I'm still researching and have my eye on two locations. However! Wow, haven't flown to SXM in awhile and had to adjust to the prices. But I am also having trouble finding flights out of PHL. Has anyone any recommendations for an airline? AA has flights but they only have 1 stop flights with a stop in CLT and only 40 minutes between flights. How is that possible? LOL. Sorry if starting a second question on this thread isn't recommended. Those of you from PHL, if you could help it would be greatly appreciated. Anticipated sand gravity on hold here frown

Hello, We stayed at this airbnb at the end of January. Really a great value and super easy. The only downside was that it is above yellow sub, However we go to bed at 9pm every night and did not have a problem. For 115$ a night, you can't beat it.

You can go American non stop PHL to SXM on Saturday only. It gets you to SXM at 1:30, other days of the week you have to do through CLT or MIA. SAFE TRAVELS!

We've stayed at few places over the years in Orient village. For us, the best host you will ever find is Bruno Lemoine and his family at his Bungalows with the lovely view, the beautiful gardens. The lovely rooms with kitchens and a nice size pool/deck overlooking orient beach. Short walk to everything!! https://www.oparadis-sxm.net/accueil

We stayed at this cute one bedroom ground floor unit last winter and again in a couple of weeks. Loved it and the owner is wonderful to work with. A 3 minute walk to the beach and behind the restaurants. It’s a very quiet place.

Thanks so much beachlovers84. Ha! I was searching other days of the week and never thought to search on Saturdays. We are booked for a trip in June on a direct Saturday flight both ways. Can't wait! Very pricey. Yikes!

Oh, we also found a nice studio right in Orient Village through Vrbo. Thanks for the leads.

https://www.islandescapesxm.com/accommodation/villa-matisse/

We just stayed at Villa Matisse which is a very short walk through a parking lot to the ocean.
They have redone the villa since irma (We stayed there back in 2008, too) and it's a really nice three bedroom townhouse with a big kitchen, bathroom for each bedroom and a half bath on main level,
comfy beds, hot water (the pressure really depends on Orient, which can sometimes be low, but t was not a problem at all for us), balconies, eating area out the back door, etc,
The only possible downside I guess I should point out, not that it was a "problem" for us (and we have stayed twice!)
but it's right up against a parking lot which is for the restaurant there... BUT if you want a 3 bedroom (can be rented as a 1 bedroom) steps away from Orient beach, this is a nice one!

Email Magali, I am sure she would be happy to answer your questions smile
