Sargassum on Mullet Bay - 03/09/2023 05:12 PM

From what I saw on a couple of the facebook groups, the Sargassum has invaded Mullet Bay and in a big way. Lots of loungers out but no people.

Yes. It was all the way to the loungers with some under the loungers.

Not surprising, considering the state of Maho Beach. The Sunset webcam is awful looking.

Whoa! In addition to the seaweed issue, looks like the skies are going to open up here shortly! Very dark over Maho!

Sargassum is heaviest from Rosie's and past DaWatrhole to the end. Sun was out but then heavy dark clouds moved in and by the time we got back to our unit it started to rain. We will see what tomorrow brings.

If they don't it's an easy trek to Ace to purchase rakes/shovels.

Seaweed on beaches will need to be cleaned up, but that on west side waters will blow away when winds return to normal. Westerly winds are VERY unusual here.

Not going to blow it off the sand.

Surfers were out at Mullet today and some of the sargassum was partially buried under sand from the tide and waves. Westerly winds are supposed to continue into tomorrow so the surfers will probably be back.
