I would love to hear the progress or lack thereof of the Club O property. Maybe a picture of the beach on that end, if no one on the beach would be disturbed. The area between Pedro's and Papagayo, and what remains of the beach front chalets.

CaribLee--Looking forward to it!

Scuba--OK, do it!!

o2b--No progress on Club O, as far as I know.

We arrived last Tuesday. Great flight from Miami. Easiest check in ever. Arrived at 10 for 12:05 flight. Curbside check in and at gate in 10 minutes. Arrived SXM 30 minutes early but took awhile for customs and luggage. Used Hertz for first time. Was easy pickup and check in. Spent four nights at Orient each Hotel. Wonderful stay. Nice accommodation right on the beach. Love the dinner options a walk away at Orient Village. Dined at LaPiment twice. Our favorite. Tried two French restaurants the other two nights. Both very good. Lots of seaweed some days but a great job was done each day removing it with tractors and beach cleaning equipment. Was cleaned every morning by 10 o’clock .Moved to Sapphire Beach Club this morning. Lucked out with our room being ready for us at 10am. They always take great care of us. Been going there for 20 years. Dinner tonight at LaRosa. Tradition for us on first night on Dut h side.

Well, we're here. Just a normal day. Puttering around the house, I made chicken soup from the carcass of the fresh chicken bought at the farmers market a few days ago. Bill bought a new doorbell at ACE, the old one is 15 years old. Started to turn the fans on as it was getting warm and lovely GEBE turned off our electric and water. We're 6 floors up and walking is a problem, but I managed to make the stairs down. Off to St Maarten Yacht Club for a couple of soothing beverages and a breeze. Checked with a neighbor to see if current back on and it was. I was kind of hoping to have to head to a hotel for the night. Alas, the elevator was working. Chicken soup is simmering.

Elaine,
Your posts are always warm and friendly. You and Bill have learned the secret of enjoying life to the fullest.
I suppose GEBE is just a small bump in the road for you!

Elaine I’m back home but already bored. May try to get back late May. Just have to work out the airfare.

I will be there May 17 - 24 and I will take pictures of any progress on Club O, but I don't think it has changed much.

Re: Anyone on island? - 04/30/2023 10:57 PM

When I was there for about 2 weeks in January, the only progress on Club O property was it is getting more over grown with vegetation. I would post some pictures, but I can't figure out how.

Rumlover--posting pictures is pretty easy. Just click on USE FULL EDITOR and upload pictures directly here.

Will it resize automatically? I've never tried it. When I posted my dive pictures in the past I had used a Shutterfly album link.

Scuba--So long as pictures are under 8 megs, you just upload them automatically.

Carol, I'm using the full editor and the pictures show up in the attachment manager. When I preview the reply, the pictures are not in my post reply.

Re: Anyone on island? - 05/01/2023 12:29 AM

I checked some of my pictures in my gallery on my phone and the size shows in MB. That the same as meg? If so I should be good to go when I get there in 2 weeks.

I found the same thing, but they are in the actual post.

Happy to hear your electricity is back and hopefully the water too. Six floors is a lot of stairs for you to climb ! The refreshments at the Yacht Club would certainly help!

Rumlover--For some reason, when you preview the post, the pictures aren't there, but they do show up when you actually post. Not sure why.

Thanks for posting those pictures Rumlover. Depressing indeed. Nothing like the lively sunny place we remember.

The weather has been perfect!
Some days clearer than others, but always amazing.
I think it is the best I remember.

The waves here are a little rougher
today, than it’s been the entire time. We were spoiled in that respect.

We’re missed most of our favorite restaurants,
but there’s always next time.

Tomorrow we leave.

Pictures of Yvette’s daughter’s restaurant -very good.
One of our first days on Mullet
Sunset at Beachside Villas.

Curious how things are at SBC. We bailed out years ago, but I am seeing good deals can be had on Armed Forces Vacation Club for weekly rentals. Which tower are you in?
