The largest new cruise ship arrives in SXM in 2024

It's good for the island, but I personally don't get the attraction of these ships that just keep getting bigger and bigger. I miss the old days, when a "big" ship was 3,000 passengers.

For sure. Smaller ships were much better.

Cruising is not my thing. Too many people in too small a space. But happy for others to enjoy.

Our only cruise was on the “biggest” new ship at the time and it held about 2,200 people. That was way too many people for us. We did discover Sxm on that cruise though,and are getting ready for return trip 20 in November so it was worth it.

Our first cruise was on the Song Of Norway and held about 1200 passengers. Perfect size and it was the way we first came to SXM back in 1989.

Quite a few years ago I took a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas. Their CocoCay private island sounded very attractive. It was the most crowded place I had been – I take that back – I had been to a Rose Bowl game, but at least I had a reserved seat and a place to sit. I got back on the shuttle and returned to the ship. I quickly learned the obvious – You are taking the crowd with you. Apparently, a lot of people love it, but it’s not for me.

CocoCay would seem great being a private island but this new cruise ship holds 8,000 passengers. I would wave to all the passengers while sipping a frozen drink by the one of nine pools,

First off, even if EVERYTHING was free, I'd still never go on a cruise!!! Then put 7000 people on at the same time. NO THANK YOU! I'm happy for them, not for me. It is fun to watch them come into and go out of port from our deck at Beachside!!!
