OK, I'm confused, people are actually using the jetways to board planes? I did not see anything on the Juliana website. I know they are connected, have been for some time.

Comments make it sound like it's for arrivals too but other news releases state for departures only for now.

Re: Jet Bridge NOT Operational - 11/02/2023 06:17 PM

The arrivals could stop short of the jetways and the plane could be towed up closer for the departure.
And don't forget that in the past when they did have four jetways working, Air France and the other big planes were at the jetways on Saturdays
and most the other arrivals deplaned by steps.

"Tonythepilot"--who I guess IS a pilot said, with regard to moving the plane for departures "Carol- I assume they will deplane with stairs and ramps as they are doing now, and then pull the jetway up for departure. Should not have to move the plane."

But I renew my question--Can anyone confirm that they are actually USING the jetways to load passengers, because we all know that they have been in place at the airport for several months now. And you would think that if they were actually using them to load passengers, there would be something on the Airport web pages.

And, all you folks there at Beachside, stick your head out the front door and see what you can see! grin

There was nothing said on Jeff Burgers site and he knows and reports everything people need to know. LOL

It just shows same picture with comments the OP posted. No actual news or time stamp when this happened or which airline. Only information comes in comments with questions.

Again, so could anyone there at BSV or elsewhere confirm whether they are actually USING the jetways to board planes? You should be able to see if they are using the stairs still or not.

On the island now,and we are scheduled to leave on 11/15 which is the day of the 'soft opening'. I can tell you that when we arrived they were not in use, and when I went by there yesterday they were not in use. Word here is that they are still saying 11/15, but then with 'island time' not holding out a lot of hope there. I'll update next week when we leave.

We left SXM yesterday and the jetways were not in use, at least for any of the flights in our time frame.

Thanks for the confirmation of what I already knew--the picture posted, with that caption, was kind of deceptive. Best wishes on the 15th.

I have changed the title of the thread to the correct situation. Jet bridges are connected but not being used to board planes.

"the picture posted, with that caption, was kind of deceptive"
Probably a file photo that news medias use often from before Irma.

Re: Jet Bridge NOT Operational - 11/08/2023 03:23 PM

What was odd was that, as far as I could tell, there was never any story associated with the photo.

Re: Jet Bridge NOT Operational - 11/08/2023 03:27 PM

Correct. Non of the many different Facebook sites that posted that picture had nothing to add.

And no one questioned it? Immediately once I saw it, I didn't believe it.
