Orient Beach after Irma

Orient Beach after Irma - 12/27/2023 09:15 PM

We used to stay at CO, seen the photos, but haven't been there since 2016. In coupla weeks, we'll visit SXM from a music cruise and want to visit the nude part of Orient Beach. We won't explore CO but is that part of Orient safe during the day? Are umbrellas & chairs available for rent on the beach? Are $US accepted or should we exchange for French currency ? Are there showers at Perch or elsewhere at Orient Beach ? How close to the beach will taxis (or Uber?) drop us off & pick us up ?
Thanks, and looking forward to our visit !

Most of your questions will be answered if you search recent posts on this subject. The resort was completely destroyed by Irma and largely remains that way. CO/Natualism/Nudity is still fully supported with Perch, a beach bar with food and basic bathroom facilities and available rental chairs and umbrellas for patrons. As in the past, taxi transport services for cruise folks are available. Safety and US$ have never been an issue. Enjoy.

1) Safety--Yes, but don't go back into the ruins of the resort
2) Beach bar, yes, the Perch, decent food, moderately ok toilets, chairs and umbrellas, certainly.
3) US dollars, certainly
4) No showers at the Perch. Not aware of any along Orient.
5) Taxi, yes, no Uber on SXM. I assume they will let you off at the Perch, not sure.

Enjoy!

$US accepted all over the island. No need to exchange currency.

Thanks for the info ! We used to catch a taxi from PJIA to CO that was owned by a woman and her brother (forgot their names). She was a delight to talk with during the ride. Does anyone know if they are still in the taxi business ?
