James Jimbo Morris leaves NOLA - 01/06/2024 04:04 PM

Saw an announcement from him on numinous Facebook sites that he is no longer associated with NOLA Bistro. That was sure quick.

That is shocking! He is such a SXM legend. I am sure it was very very expensive to get open and just didn't understand how it the world they could make enough money to every recover that expense. Look around the island, Lot of stupid money being spent on smoke dream idiotic ideas. Bar and Restaurant is a very hard business on the island. What restaurant have been around more that 10 year, 20 years, 50 years? Speculations would be the investors had enough and parted ways. It will be interesting to hear more. I do wish him the best.

I think Marys Boon Hotel and Restaurant opened in 1970....that would be 53 years. AMAZING. Maybe the old hotel in town would be the only one open longer ?? If its still open.

Kim--so, he had disagreements with his partners? Don't have any idea if he had partners at Jimbo's.

There is a lot more to this story that I'm not privy to tell but eventually it'll all come out.

On the restaurant FB page they listed it as a two dollar sign, but after reviewing the munu, it's more like three and more! $56.00 for BBQ shrimp??? I think NOT! I give him that, he did an amazing job renovating the old Frenchie ludo's!! I'm not sure if people are ready to spend that "Peter Luger" money on the Dutch side!!!

Look for a new menu and pricing in about a week or so.

We had a lovely evening at NOLA in December, and it was well worth every dime. The bartender is fabulous, the food delicious, and the service impeccable. Jimbo is the face of the restaurant, and his presence will be missed.

He was let go by the owners of the restaurant. They want someone who is a team player, who is supportive and positive with the team, listens to the requests and feedback of owners/guests. That's all I can say at this point.
