Trip March 12 - 21 questions - 02/18/2024 02:39 AM

I didn't have a good vibe about Villa Zandoli (from my previous thread) so we were able to book at Esmeralda by pushing the trip back a week. I have a few questioins.
1) How frequently have the recent water shutoffs been and about how long do they last?
2) Who has the service that rents chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc by the week? (did not have success searching for this)
3) Does anyone know how much Luis charges for his bathing suits? When we bought from him in 2009, I think they were $50 each for tops and bottoms.
4) Our flight will arrive at 2:00 pm on a Tuesday. If we checked any luggage, should we anticipate a long wait in getting it at that time at the airport?

Thank you in advance to everyone who responds.

Check with Kennys car rental about chairs and umbrellla rental. I have only rented cars from them but i think they rent beach chairs and unbrellas. As to arrivals, it all depends. 2 large planes arrived just after ours, it would have taken them much longer then we did, which was very quick

Since mid January the water was off just one morning for a little while maybe 1 hour. I thought I saw Louis the other day he was walking the beach selling paras. he hasn't had his little shop in years. I will carry on

We were there for month of January & no water off near marigot. I bought 2 bathing suits from Luis 2 years ago $225 each. Love the material he uses & they fit. He is next to Orange fever but he isn't always there. He did the tankini type top for me.

Check with La Vista in Simpson Bay. They rent out chairs and umbrellas.

DSSS--
1) Who knows? What happened last week has very little effect on what happens this week. Doesn't Esmeralda have an alternative water source? At Es, at least you have a pool, so you have water to flush the toilet. That's the biggest 'yuck' factor. You can also wash off in the pool, if necessary. And you can buy bottled water.
2) Craig from Packlight does chair and umbrella rentals, or he has in the past anyway.
3) No idea
4) Again, no idea. Tuesday should not be as heavy as other days though. Check out the schedule on the Tuesday(s) before your date and see how heavy the plane load is. At least, once it's over, you are in SXM!

Ah, yes. Bathing suit fittings by Luis. Perhaps the creepiest experience ever.

2 years ago I didn't have that experience. Maybe he's learned or been told. The bathing suit material is top notch.

Thank you Miss Pat. As always, your kindness is much appreciated. I hope that both you and Mr John are doing exceptionally well and enjoying the wonders of each day.
