Studio in Orient Village

Studio in Orient Village - 04/12/2024 07:41 PM

Hi Everyone,

I just got an e-mail from the manager of the ground floor studio ( Sucriere ) that we have rented in Orient Village for the past three years. She said that the owner was taking it off the rental market in 2025.
Does anyone know of any other similar rentals in Orient Village ( king bed, ground floor, and washing machine in the unit } ? I know that there are several inexpensive rentals available at the Mount Vernon; but we would prefer something closer to Orient Village - with no stairs. Thanks to all, Jim.

Did not check availability for your dates but we loved our most recent stay at Cote de Chic part of So Chic Villas.

We loved walking to the village and directly from our unit to the pool or beach.

Will mention bedroom is on the second floor with a porch overlooking the pool out to the ocean.

Absolutely no negative comments expect washer instructions were all in French.

Although not on the ground floor we toured Neptune this year very close to Cote de Chic and found it to much more roomier and just a bit less expensive.
It is rented through Blue Ocean Villas who are great to work with

Best wishes for finding the right place

We are renting studio costa caraibes starting next Tuesday. It checks all of your boxes except it has a queen bed. We usually want a king, but decided for the price and location to give it a try. You can find it on islandescapesxm.com

maho--since I resemble that remark, when a person says they don't want any stairs, they are normally pretty firm about that. That is a problem with a lot of the units at Orient, the bedroom is upstairs. I will be interested to hear what the OP comes up with as far as options, as I would like to stay in the Village again, but it would have to be a very special place if I had to deal with stairs.

I checked out the studio that they can't stay in and it looks as though the bedroom was on the second floor.

The great part is that only one suitcase really needs to go upstairs and you don't have to carry any groceries upstairs

Maybe like us they enjoy the freedom of getting to the beach, pool or getting back to use the bathroom if on the ground floor.

Really don't mind if I only need to go upstairs to shower and sleep.

Like going downstairs early in the morning for coffee and work a little while wife sleeps in.

Their unit did have a small somewhat private pool although looks like most could be in the shade.

We also prefer to be able to socialize and meet new people so a private pool is not for us unless we are renting a villa

One suitcase wouldn't work for us to take upstairs as we share all three with that we share with clothes incase one doesn't make it. So all three need to go up.😉

Thanks to all. The place that is no longer available, Sucrier, was in Residence Les Lataniers. It was a ground floor unit - no stairs. I checked out Studio Costa Caraibes on Air B&B, but it only has a Queen Bed. I will wait until airfare for a March 15, 2025 is posted at the end of the month, or around the beginning of May; before booking the rental. I also checked VRBO, but their prices seem much higher than those posted on AirB&B.

If we were younger, we would not mind stairs so much, and would probably not mind walking down from the Mt. Vernon every day.

Have you checked with Victoria at Book St. Martin? She's a French local who represents many units on the island.

We stayed in this studio a few years ago, and it appears to be available for March 2025. Ground floor, king bed, low price.

It's also in Residence Les Lataniers, I think.

Thanks, Stevenbarb.
I think that I passed over this unit because of the ambiguous description of the bed size. In the description, it lists a King Sized bed. But the photo describes a " Lit Queen sized". We ended up booking a ground floor studio at the Alamanda Resort, because they were offering a substantial discount for the first three renters. But we will still be paying a few hundred dollars more than if we had stayed at Residence Les Lataniers. We will have a newer unit, and we will be about a block closer to the beach.
Again, Thanks, Jim
