Dreams - 04/14/2024 02:12 PM

Are there any beach establishments comparable to Dreams left on SXM? Also, what beach bar on Orient is closet to the South end. We like to snorkel the rocks down there but the walk needs to be short. Haven't been to SXM in seven years and I realize a lot has changed since Irma.

Nothing is comparable to Dreams, in my opinion, partly because I love Bruno so much.

I am geographically challenged, so I have no idea which is the south end of Orient.

What Carol said about Bruno. BUT the food at Anse Marcel and Friar's Bay is fairly comparable to what was offered at Dreams. And the beach is better at both those locations than it was at Dreams.

Anse Marcel is quite comparable to Dreams especially with the Cabana available for lunch. Beach is much more usable than the Dreams beach was.

Thanks for the quick and informative answers. The south end of Orient Beach is where Club Orient used to be.

Linda--I like Friars Bay, but no way I would consider it comparable to Dreams. AMBC has a better beach, yes, and probably comparable but the cost there is higher than Dreams, by a fair amount.

Chez Leandra,Aloha, and Orange Fever are all toward the south end of Orient. All three are well reviewed on this site. I can speak from experience that the food at Aloha is very good. For geographical reference, go to google maps and you can see their proximity to where you want to snorkel.
For Carol, club o is at the south end.

Le String is quite nice and pretty far south I believe, good food.

Another vote for Le String. Can't beat the food, and the service. Also, eat there, drink there, and the chairs are FREE.

Anse Marcel Club,
Pre-Irma, We drove up and over down at least once to see the place which looked nice but got the misimpression we didn’t belong as a visitor to the resort. I think it was afternoon so the beach day was already mostly over so we left. Where does a day visitor park? Do you just walk up to where? Does someone find you chairs or do you float around and find an empty set?

TIA

You park right by the restaurant. Someone usually greets you.

It also helps to have a reservation.

Yes, for sure, especially if you want a gazebo.

Thanks all. Next time we will call ahead and not be intimidated as a “day tripper”.

This doesn’t sound like you were at the right place. It’s a little difficult ti get on the correct road to the Anse Marcel Beech Club, if you went to the big resort that’s not it, then there is another group of units that I think are privately owned and are rentals. Once you get past them is where the “beach club” is.

I know we were there but it looked fancy enough that we felt out of place.
