Ok, here is a new thread. Where am I?
Oculus is correct
Aries4 you are up post another pix
Thanks Tom. Just an iPhone though, slight crop edit.
I’m out of photos, Aires4 hasn’t posted one.
Free for all Monday, who has a good photo for thanksgiving week?
I strongly believe that if you don't have a picture to post should you guess correctly, then you shouldn't play. Just like an ante when playing cards...
Per JP's instructions! Zanshin I'm all in.....
Well, I found one, but BEERMAN got here first!
Based on his travels, I’d say Italy or France?
I think Fred might guessed it already on the previous page.
I missed Fred's correct guess and Yes Monte Carlo casino! "again"? did I already use this pic? When Zanshin said ante like in card games I figured an appropriate pic
Thanks Zanshin. Beerman, I posted a Monaco pic earlier and you guessed it correctly.
Canouan...
Answers in the jpeg post again Fred
Darn, and I went to all the trouble of painting over clues and I should have saved without the actual name
I'm a little unsure about the photo above, but I do know where this one was taken.
I think the earlier photo was Bequia as I recognise the boat.
Mike, that is where I thought the pic was taken and I have this guy as a witness. You are up.
Still have the tee shirt and the wife but sadly not the boat. Who was the other lady... Debbie?
Photo coming up...
Not even a guess as to which country so far. OK. Try this taken not far from the first photo.
Ahh - I lived in Sydney for over a year and traveled all around the east coast on my motorcycle and that building looked somewhat familiar but the ocean view narrowed it down. Somewhere in the CBD of Sydney?
Correct Arnd. Thought you'd get it. It's actually a serviced apartment building in Darling Harbour. Very nice and very good value for anyone passing through. The second photo for those that don't know it is the exit from Sydney Harbour heading around to Manley if you turn left or Bondi if you go right. .
The second photo is taken from an angle that makes the opening look rather small - but cruise ships come through here! I didn't get to Darling Harbour too often, I lived in Kirribilli and usually just hopped across the bridge to get cheap drinks and food at the backpacker bars...
Where is this?
Maybe one of the 1,000 + islands of the Bahamas?
No, not the Bahamas.
First clue - this is one of the very few locations on this island that is not covered in verdant growth.
Looks vaguely familiar. Possibly somewhere on Moskito Island?
Nope, not on Moskito. This place get more rainfall.
Another picture taken a couple of kilometres from the first one and looking in roughly the same direction
I've never actually been to Creole Rock, but the island in the background looks like Anguilla to me, so I'm going to say French St. Martin.
I'm going to move away from the Caribbean. I've seen rocks like the first image in the Seychelles and they certainly get more rain. The only time I went we had 3 days when we couldn't move out of harbour because of continuous torrential rain and high winds.
While St. Martin wasn't right, this island is in the Caribbean.
Wettest place in the eastern Caribbean is probably Dominica so I'll go with that.
I'm thinking it looks similar to some of the small islands near the ABC islands.
Correct! These pictures were taken on the windward side of Dominica. The first is truly the only barren part of the island, since the ground is from a relatively recent volcanic eruption. The island of Marie Galante in Guadeloupe can be seen on the horizon of the second picture.
Sorry for the delay. Forgot I'd guessed. Have a go at this...
South Pacific somewhere? Bora Bora?
Right area but wrong country Carol.
Well wrong country eliminates French Polynesia which is good because I can't remember the names of islands there except Bora Bora. To see if we are headed in the right direction, I'll guess Vanuatu?
Both too far west. This photo eliminates some of the options...
Been there but no Fred. Did you go there on WARC?
I think I might know but don't have any good photos so I'll wait and see how this goes.
This should do it...
That's exactly where I thought it was.
That's exactly where I thought it was.

So Fran, the answer, for those that can't zoom in enough to read my tee shirt is???
The answer is Raratonga, I think. Beautiful place, we went there on our Tahitian Princess cruise. Most anything in that area is stunningly beautiful. I don't have any pictures to post at the moment though.
As I said, I don't have any pics. Someone else go.
Great place and surprisingly accessible. There used to be a direct flight from LAX.
OK, to keep everything going, here is one.
OK, here's another pic for the night
This should take care of it. Town, harbor or island name will do.
Fred-I could be wrong, often am, but didn't you post that same picture before??
I've got it but haven't got a new photo yet so I'll leave it for a while.
Carol, I did use the vegetable stand picture. Without going into a lengthy explanation, I "cancelled" it. I have not used the other 2 pictures before.
Ok... It's Union Island, SVG, with Happy Island in the foreground. Never actually visited Happy Island but I've seen enough drunks trying to get back into their dinghies to know it is probably a pretty good place
Mike, yes Union Island, Clifton Harbor and Happy Island. Yes Happy Island was a fun place with strong punch most likely made with Sunset Rum - a perfect name for this potion.
You are up!
Try this one...
Mike, even though you spend a lot of time in Spain and Bolivar is on the plaque, I'm guessing some other country. A guess based on vegetation and wondering if the plaque is totally "pro conquistador". I'm guessing not Spain as a start.
Since Simon Bolivar was instrumental in making a number of south American countries independent, I would guess we are somewhere in the northern part of South America, perhaps even Venezuela. For lack of actual knowledge, I'll just guess Caracas.
Fred you are correct. Not Spain. Zanshin... Not Caracas either but the latitude is pretty close.
Next photo. Spent probably the worst evening of my life on this 'party' bus. Appalling music played at around 120 decibels. No or inadequate air-con. Plenty to drink and no bathroom...
Thought the flag on the side of the bus might be enough to identify it. Apparently not so...
Well, I was pretty sure before, and now I'm virtually certain, but I don't have any pictures to post..
Didn't notice the flag but the last photo sure gives it away. Sadly, it appears many, if not most, of those participating are running out of photos.
Panama is correct. Adrian you are up (if you have any photos!)
Here you go!
The photo of the Panama canal locks (Miraflores, I believe?) prompted me to look up some info about them. Cool stuff, thanks!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama_Canal_locksDan
Yes Dan, Miraflores. Quite an experience going through the Panama Canal on a small boat. Here's a couple of shots going through the Gatun Locks. The cat in the pics is another Privilege 435, identical to Jeannius, the boat on the left an Irwin 54 and the one on the right an Amel 54...

Back to the game... Looks sort of tropical or semi tropical. I've seen somewhere like that, perhaps Australia, Melbourne or Sydney?
At first I thought it was an airport terminal, but then I couldn't find airport "stuff". Now I'm going with a concert hall in FL - maybe your town of Panama City?
No. Not Florida or Australia, but if you look closely, there is a flight control tower to the right in the photo. Tropical climate-yes.
I think you are in my old stomping grounds of PR... San Juan for this picture.
Were you at a convention maybe...
I think you are in my old stomping grounds of PR... San Juan for this picture.
Were you at a convention maybe...
Tom, you are correct. PR Convention Center. We were actually staying at the Sheraton next door post BVI trip. You're up!
How about this one?
No bites?????
I thought the clock was a give away
Don't know the clock at all. I think the French on the sign might be a misdirection and that it might be Germany instead.
Perhaps Switzerland somewhere?
Zurich? mine is from a slightly different angle!!
Beerman you are correct!
where to now?
Where were we..........
I am guessing somewhere in Southern France
Yes Tom, south east.... pic of a beautiful castle on the large lake with the same name....
Not to drag on.....here's the center of town....
Sorry for the delay
Here is the next one for the group.
After this one I am going to take a respite until 2021 - it has been fun!
Known for music, this town has 22 Catholic Churches in its old town.
My first thought was the Montreux Jazz Festival (I can't believe that they "boo'd" Stevie Ray Vaughn off stage the first time he performed there). I'm going to stick with that for lack of a definite location, but the mountainous background makes me think of the Alps and Switzerland. I just don't think Montreux is big enough for that many churches
Alps Yes!
Switzerland No...
That narrows down the options. With that many churches it has to be a bigger town. While the picture doesn't ring a bell, I am going to guess Salzburg in Austria due to the history, scenery and size. I haven't been back to Salzburg in many years but it could be a match...
You are correct - Salzburg it is! Next
Here's fine example of public art:
Hint1 : Neither Bernini nor Rodin were involved here...
My art appreciation class was too many years ago, but does your hint mean neither Italy or France? What about some place behind the former Iron Curtain?
Yes, this is fine example of the delicacies and intricacies of the renowned Russian Brutalist style. But which city in which country?
Looks like it's being preserved now with the fence. I have a couple of places in mind, but first guess is former GDR and Leipzig (I don't even know if this city is in GDR)
The fence is to preserve the "artwork" (and to keep it from getting vandalized) but it remains standing in the middle of this rather large city. It is not in Leipzig, nor is the city in what used to be the DDR (or GDR, same thing)
Okay, my other thought was Pllsen, Czech Republic.
Although better than Germany, this isn't in the Czech Republic, either.
Here's the oldest building in town:
Hint - the yellow brick road begins here...
Sophia, Bulgaria. Thanks Google.
Correct - when I first arrived I thought I'd lost my color perception on the flight in -
https://freesofiatour.com/blog/sofia-yellow-brick-road/ p.s. "Sofia" - but close enough
Thanks for correction and pass. OK, here is one I finally dug up, and I don't think the country will be a mystery - hopefully the place is for awhile.
Italy but I don't know where.
Reminds me of an area of Tuscany that a friend of mine visited (and showed me photos).
Italy, pretty obvious, but not Tuscany. Think of one of those things off the mainland,
FYI, I made the last post about 6 pm EST(1 hour ago today ) but TTOL says I made it yesterday at 10:53 pm and edited at 11:27 pm yesterday. Don't go to Google too soon.
Here is another for the night at 7:50 pm EST
Fred--these time issues are yours, because I am not getting these false times you are posting..
Carol, what time do you show my post 241287 above. I'm not the only one that has raised this question.
Fred... Your 7:50 pm EST post is being shown as '8 hours ago' at 09:00 on my PC which is set at GMT which is 5 hours ahead. So that looks correct to me.
Thanks Mike. Not Sardinia Sleepychef.
Fred, I gave up on the time thing. I'm seeing the same issue but what I don't get is that sometimes one post will be correct while another before or after it will be incorrect. Also, the time has on occasion changed from correct to incorrect and vice versa. Oh well, if someone Googles too early I don't care, it's no skin off my back, only a game.
By the way, with the statue/monument to Garibaldi I'm thinking somewhere in Sicily.
Adrian, not Messina but Sleepychef was extremely close with Sardinia. A good baseball pitcher, or cricket bowler, could probably hit this place from Sardinia.
Fred--I'm showing your post at 5:53 PM.
Again, it is a setting in your Preferences in your computer. Make sure that your time is set for the time where you are. I am on the East Coast, so my time is set for New York City.
Fran, sorry I overlooked your guess, but Sicily is not correct. As far as Garibaldi goes, I just looked him up on Wikipedia and he was all over the world, but even though he has a monument here, it made no mention of him ever being in the place I posted.
Carol, as I said before, I'm not overly concerned about this but I checked and my computer time is also set for NY and I am having the same issue as Fred, albeit intermittently. Who knows what causing this. I think computers may have a mind of their own sometimes.
Fred, I recall he was some kind of big shot in Sicily for a while that's why it came to mind.
La Madalena then if you can throw from Sardinia
Sleepychef is correct and you are up
Where am I taking the photograph from?
Oil Nut Bay, Virgin Gorda, BVI?
Close but no cigar, that view would be towards Oil Nut Bay
which part of Leverick Bay, not the marina
round the corner from the beach bar still at sea level , it has its own tennis court or it did when I lived there, a guy with otters owns it now
I never owned it lol
Well noe body else seems to have a guess so I'll go with Little Bay?
After a little more thought, if you're looking toward Oil Nut then perhaps Prickly Pear near the Sandbox?
Just a laugh, I posted the previous less than an hour ago, it is now 7:29 PM my time (east coast) but the timer says I posted it at 10:16 yesterday. Yes, I checked my computer settings.
Fran, I noticed that. Your computer time must be set wrong
Its Mooney Bay Fred you are up as I will be off for a while
OK, I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel for pictures and not many players left, but here goes.
Guess no one recognizes the previous photo, so maybe this will provide a better clue.
Fred, neither one gives me any idea. Our fellow players are dropping like flies.
Fran--I don't recognize either photo but I don't have any photos to contribute, even if I did... I think that's a good part of the problem. We need to recruit some new players..
I'm still playing, but don't have any idea either. I'll guess Portugal.
Adrian, not Portugal so I'll provide another picture. I agree with Carol and Fran that it was better when more were playing and was actually a good learning experience. TTOL folks are literally world travelers. I'm sure that someone has been here:
It does look like Marseille. Is that the road going up the the cathedral?
France , yes but not Marseille.
I've probably been there Fred as there aren't many towns on the Med coast of France I haven't been to. However, that brings a problem... Unless they are really memorable I can't remember them any more!
I'm still playing too, but work has been too time consuming...
I'll guess Saint Raphael?
Ellen
Hi Ellen, glad you are still here - sorry not Saint Raphael.
Looking at the white cliff picture could we be in the north of France? Not sure, but if there are white cliffs in Dover, might be some in the north of France?
Hint - A lot of places fly the French flag and are considered "France"
Sleepychef, you are correct and you are up.
I keep checking in, but I hesitate to guess on some of these!
ran out of pictures....
Looks like a pristine, manicured beach so maybe a high end resort. That leaves me out as having been to this place, but to start I'll guess Palm Island?
Thanks Fred , but not Palm Island
no but it is in the Caribbean
Wild guess, Ambergis Caye?
I am going to say it is a pic from Anegada. Maybe in front of Wonky Dog? I don't recognize the firepit. But the docks look familiar.
we have a winner ndfaninnc , well I did say I ran out of pictures
ndfan--that was kind of what I was thinking, but didn't say it, as I don't have any pictures either..
Sorry for the delay y'all. The ND basketball was on and my world stops. I am running out of pics as well. So with this one I'd like not only the island, but more specifically the beach.
Cow Wreck beach, Anegada, BVI?
Close. But not Cow Wreck. I mean very close.
Okay. Obviously we have determined the island as I am I am very limited on pics. But not Loblolly. I believe Peter knows. But is limited on pics too.
I have a tee shirt from Anegada Beach Club so maybe there is an Anegada Beach.
Nope. Not ABC. Opposite direction from Loblolly.
I've only been to Loblolly (several times) and don't know the other beaches at all so I guessed the only name that came to mind without resorting to google

but the coastline and the enclosed reef area made the rough location guess pretty easy.
Flash O' Beauty? (although I only know if it as a bar/restaurant)
best snorkelling on island also
Correct Fred. I knew Chef would know and he is correct, best snorkeling on the island. Also pretty darn good rotis at the bar. Monica's (?) Bushwhackers are very good too.
That pic is also my desktop pic. I thought it came out really good. Fred, you are up sir!
OK, this "candlestick park" is not in San Francisco - but where is it? I'm looking for a local place name of some sort, not just a country.
There's that big "rock" in the distance. Though that would have ruled out Bahamas, Florida, Turks.
I'm going Cabo.
Not Cabo or Abaco. I'll dig up another picture soon, but it will take some "Paint"
Here is a closer view
That's Le Phare Bleu Marina on Grenada. You left just enough of the old Lightship in the picture so I could identify it. I don't really like being in marinas but Le Phare Bleu is a really fun place to be.
If you go to
https://www.lepharebleu.com/lighthouse-ship-bar-bistro-grenada/ there is a great video of them starting the ancient, massive, two cylinder diesel ( at least it's fascinating if like me you love messing with old mechanical things!)
Mike, I figured you would get this and you can see some of the lightship in both pictures above. That is a great video link you sent and you are up.

Have a go at this rather impressive statue...
If I recall my history, this would look like a statue of Siva, the destroyer. the trident (I can't recall the correct Indian name) gives it away. But where in India could this be - I've only been to big cities so can't even begin to make a guess. How about Kolkatta?
Pretty sure I've got this one. But I have no more pics!! I'm truly amazed at the number of very tall statues in India.
Both incorrect but good guesses. I'm not going to give any written clues on this, just post a series of photos as I have loads of this area...

Are we in the correct area od the world, maybe Myanmar?
Seeing what looks like tea - Ceylon?
Not Sri Lanka. You were probably posting at the same time as my previous post
OK I can get that one, even without google!
Mauritius.
UMM, are you sure???
Mine have been guessed quickly, this one maybe will go quickly too..
Well, it sure isn't Lake Norman.

Looks like the Pacific coast, maybe Oregon?
No to both. Not lake Norman or the Pacific coast.
Could be a typical summer's day somewhere here in the UK.
Maybe sometime I'll post Lake Norman photos, our grandson lives in Mooresville. Pit crew for Penske Racing.
Sorry to hijack for a moment. Lake Norman is absolutely beautiful. I can’t get over there enough. If my office wasn’t in Concord, I’d live at or near the lake.
Sorry to hijack for a moment. Lake Norman is absolutely beautiful. I can’t get over there enough. If my office wasn’t in Concord, I’d live at or near the lake.
Amen!
I live in Mooresvillle. And have friends who work for Penske.
and yes i love living on the lake.
Picture was taken in March. U.K. is way closer than Oregon.
Not in the UK. Very very close. I’ll post another picture soon when I get home.
None of us are old enough to have been there when the beach was busy.
Yes. Fred is the winner.
When you see the beaches and the cliffs it is mind blowing to think about landing there and getting up the cliffs. Then add in someone shooting at you.
The whole area is a great visit. We took our then 16 year old. She was very quiet, especially at the cemetery.
Ellen, your clue made me zero in on this place that I have also visited. Here are a couple of friends at ?
Never heard of Kilkee. Going to google that one!
Yes. Fred is the winner.

The whole area is a great visit. We took our then 16 year old. She was very quiet, especially at the cemetery.
We took our daughter at about the same age Ellen. She was very upset by the whole experience, particularly the cemetery..
Yes, they have done a good job on all the exhibits throughout the area. The cemetery is hard no matter your age.
Ellen
Not Kilkee. Here is another picture from same country and not to far from first pic (but then nothing is too far from anything)
So I am going to one of the small islands in the grenadines. Am I in the right part of the world?
Let me just say you are in the right part of the world relative to previous guesses.
Another for the night and not St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Not PR. I think this should do it, so get your pictures ready. Almost forgot, please start a new thread when you post.

Zanshin, you are the winner and all I needed was Antigua since I posted pictures from various places on the island. You are up and please start a new thread.
