Barbuda? Looking for info - 09/28/2016 06:01 PM

Anyone have information, experience or opinions about Barbuda? We are going in February and info is hard to find.

Are you going to stay on the island or just a day visit from Antigua ?

The link below might be of some help. I love it there by the way. The beaches are out of this world.

We stayed at Coco Point Lodge a couple years ago - nothing fancy in terms of accommodations but on a wonderful 2.5 mile stretch of beach.

Barbuda is a very "quiet Island" with miles and miles of beautiful beaches, only a few resorts and guest house, a few restaurants, a couple of beach bars (with limited hours) and a few points of interest. Go here if you truly want to "get away from it all". You can go all day and not encounter more than a handful of people.

We are starting the vacation on Antigua and ending on Barbuda. Staying at Copper and Lumber Store on Antigua and Coco Point on Barbuda.

Quiet is ok with us. We are looking for ideas for when we might want to venture off Coco Point for an afternoon or two. We are traveling with our son and want him to see some sights.

Thoughts on seeing the frigate bird sanctuary?

Frigate Bird sanctuary is interesting - you take a small "open" boat across the bay to reach it so you have to make the trip when water is calm. The day we went, the water was calm on the way over but coming back the wind had kicked up and it was a bit "bumpy" on the return - several people in our boat got drenched by splashing waves.

There are some some very interesting caves around the island (we visited the ones at Two-Foot Bay) and a sinkhole at Darby Cave. There's horseback riding and, of course, lots & lots of beaches. That's about it. You can, of course, arrange (through Coco Point) to go fishing, snorkeling, hiking and bike riding.

I will report back. We were ready to book Virgin Gorda again with a stop in San Juan and in the 11th hour, decided to do something completely different while our son is still young enough to want to hang out with us smile

A link to some photos of Barbuda. You will see Coco Point from the air on a majestic beach.
