might be lifted soon.

There has been a covid related ban on all recreational boating in Maryland. Just across the border Virginia has had no such ban.

Perhaps, but remember that the navigable length of the Potomac River is owned (and policed by) Maryland right up to the low tide southern shoreline on the Virginia side of the river. Only a number of small coves on the Virginia side are policed by Virginia authorities by agreement between the two states.

Growing up in VA on the Potomac River in the northern neck this is a topic close to my heart.

GW gave it to MD with the Mt Vernon Compact and then in mid-1800s after the war Maryland was granted the river bank-to-bank from the low water mark
Let the oyster and crab wars begin!

Chesapeake by Michener is a great book to read during the quarantine.

Albeit, it was written from the MD side of the river wink
