Nothing to do with SXM specifically... Moving to SXM People Talk.

Sorry about that----- thought it could influence travel, like the vaccine topics.

Hope it doesn't make things more difficult to get to and from SXM.

Yes, I agree it's close, but pretty much anything is close these days.

Doom and gloom. Only her perspective. Not all.

Best option is to get the vaccine.

Impending doom if people stop getting vaccinated, which doesn't look like that's going to be the case. As CDC director I suppose she needs to take this stance to try to convince as many people to get vaccinated. My adult male neighbors on either side of us don't plan to get vaccinated, even though their wives did. One is afraid of needles, almost like a phobia. The other just doesn't see a need for it. So, as I posted once before if there was a polio or small pox epidemic going around would you still resist? Once the number of daily cases in the states falls below 20,000 per day things should begin to open up even more, and I expect the CDC to give a cautious 'green light' to travel. The ongoing question will be what will destinations like St. Martin do? My hope is that they drop the testing requirements and temperature checks, and open things up for fully vaccinated persons. The chances of COVID virus transmission from a vaccinated individual is extremely low, even if asymptomatic spread was consistent with this virus. Eventually, the U.S. and the rest of the world will pick up on this.

Interesting that the same agency (CDC) that conducted the study that Scuba cites, stating that both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are 90% effective at preventing infection, is also predicting impending doom. it's completely ridiculous.

I thank her for being up front and caring. So much more helpful than a lot of the information that we got last year. It allows for well informed decisions. So, I absolutely do not think that providing accurate information is ridiculous. Numbers are going up in my state and surrounding states as well.

I hear you but all the so called experts predicted doom and gloom when Texas ended the mask mandate and the infection/hospitalization rate went down since it was removed. I'm fully vaccinated but will continue to wear a mask when and where mandated.
