Victoria Falls - 04/01/2005 02:42 AM

We are going to Vic Falls and Botswana in the middle of May. We will be flying into Johannesburg, then will spend two nights in Victoria Falls, at the River Club. Has anyone stayed at the River Club?? Any comments on the place?? I'm wondering if we're going to freeze our you know what's off in May, since the place has only three sides on the rooms?? What about the ultra-light flights over the falls?? Anyone done that?? Any other suggestions of cool things you did in Victoria Falls???

I stayed on the Zimbabwe side. I just enjoyed walking around the falls and watching for rainbows in the spray. I also took far more pictures of the animals around the falls the the actually waterfalls. The normally elusive bushbuck was quite relaxed, there were vervets and baboons all a round. And a family of banded mongoose were skittering about. I'm sure it is similar on the Zambian side. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/duel.gif" alt="" />

I just though I'd put in a duel to see how it looked. It has nothing to do with Vic Falls.

No ultra flights or aerial stuff for me. I did do a lovely sunset float trip down a calm part of the Zambezi. Even saw an elephant in the water and lots of hippos.

I had to laugh as I wandered around Victoria Falls (and it's probably the same on the Zambian side) because the tourists looked like they had come from a war zone. All of the extreme activities such as bungee jumping and especially the river rafting resulted in many slings and bandages. Every 10th person seemed to be sporting big white bandages or crutches.
