Cooking lobster tail - 08/29/2012 09:17 PM

Found carribian lobster tail today 7 0z for $7.99 even tho'we live now in Pasadena California. Anybody think basting and griling for 4 min on meat and 3 on shell is the best way or is grill or bake better???? Thanks-Dreaming of V.G. and Guavaberry!

I like to take a cleaver and split shell in 1/2 on the top, expose the meat, butter and season to taste, BTW on the BBQ

I boil lobster tails in salted water for 10 minutes then ice them down to stop cooking. When the timing is right I split them in half with the shell and drizzle melted butter and what ever spices you like on the meat and then grill them for a few minutes to warm them up and put the grill marks on them.

The only thing I like on lobster is butter and sometimes I don't even need that. Everything else kills it's delicious flavor. Why spend a lot of money on lobster and then make it taste like cheese or garlic or seasoning salt? I don't get it.

Thats why I said "what ever spices you like". I can't eat shell fish anymore, but I'll prepare it any way folks like! I was a butter only person too with lobster Now shrimp on the other hand...I used to like it marinated many ways or with just with a little old bay! Man I miss shellfish

Boulderboy,
Hey, I spent all my life in the Pasadena area until I got my "big girl" job and moved to South Florida. My husband is an avid diver and LIVED for the lobster season ! We would split them, brush with butter and grill. We serve with small bowls of butter to dip in. I LOVE TO ADD LOTS OF LIME TO MY BUTTER, key limes if possible.
Hope however you prepared them, they were delish
