This is the wise move. Ships are as clean as the best resorts and alot cleaner than most hotels/reaorts.

But they cross borders every day meeting new people.

The fact is these outbreaks are all about spread and You cant assume untested people are safe.

A pause can certainly be a good thing...push reset and come back fighting!

I know I have read it on several internet sources, and heard it several times on our local News that Carnival Cruise Lines as well as NCL, and RCCL have suspended their Cruises. We live in New Orleans, and those three Cruise Lines (as well as Disney) total of 5 Ships, Cruise out of here every weekend. My wife has two Cousins who just left today (ship left on schedule at 4:00 PM) on the Carnival Valor. Their Travel Agent told them last night "All is well, the Ship is still Cruising-Have a good time". I don't know where the misinformation is coming from, maybe the Cruises to Europe are canceled???

4:47 PM CST Edited to correct my post: Wife just heard from her Cousin, the Cruise was in-fact canceled. She got a call from Carnival last night at 11:00 PM, that their Cruise was canceled, and she would receive an email shortly about her options for a refund or to use the $$ on a future Cruise. The website I was looking at Port of NO Cruise Ship webcam did in fact show the Ship leaving at 4:00, but apparently without passengers.

Just a follow-up, my Wife's Cousin received an email from Carnival, offering either a full refund of all money paid for their canceled cruise OR they can book a free Cruise in the future (same category-they had a balcony room). If they choose to rebook a future cruise instead of the refund, they would get a $300 onboard credit per cabin. Sounds like Carnival is trying to do the best they can.

I agree Carol. I was thinking if things get REALLY bad, and the Cruise Line(s) have to file for bankruptcy, they might not have to honor the prior claims, or refund any money. When things settle down, it will be a cruiser's market and would be a good time to book. Until then, I think not.

Even in a chapter 11, claims for individual cruisers would be WAY down the list.. Hopefully no chapter 7's, but who knows, at this point?

We have a Baltic Cruise, on Viking Ocean, (Sun) set for 9/4/20. Received notice from Viking, they will provide a 100% voucher for any future Viking purchase, for cancellations. This includes everything booked through Viking, including air. I would hope that this pandemic would run it's course by mid Summer, however, I think that we have just seen the beginning of the wrath of the situation. I don't think that my Visa application fees (for Russia) would be refundable. I'm holding off on that process until at least June.

Good for them. Just heard on the news that Carnival is US based in Miami/Doral. The others not so US based on paper, so might not be so bailable by USA taxpayer.

Looks like all Americans are going to get a check to weather this germ storm/stimulate the economy. Hopefully not all going to online Amazon but to,Mom and Pop too.

Rightfully so, act of nature at best, act of negligence/war at worst.

Let’s bounce back USA (world). We can do it. Will be a sucky storm, but we will pop back up.
