Water Toys

Our first bvi catamaran trip is coming up May 13th for a week with 4 couples. As I look at LastStopSports to see about renting water toys I was wondering what the favorites are?? Is there a watertoy, sup/kayak I will wish I had rented for the week?? Thinking of packing a blow up raft in my duffle?? Thx!!!

Personally I like the trolling rod and reel <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> but simple noodle line tied off the stern gets lots of use! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

We've picked up a lot of toys, but the most popular on our boat are the noodles.

How do you blow them up --other than lungs? Is there a air compressor at Moorings?

I am also interested in what people suggest for our family of six consisting of 3 boys (11,10,7) and 1 girl (5). We will be on a marinemax 443 for an 8 day charter. Boys are pushing for fishing gear just not sure it's practical or fruitful based on research. I'm thinking a 3 man kayak for boys to cruise around a SUP with a few floats and noodles. Also considering upgrading to a nice 17' dingy with a 90 to give us ability to venture out and explore multiple areas from one anchorage. Anyone ever upgraded dingy that can say whether it's worth extra money? Also considered packing some inflateables to save some money.

It may be torture towing such a heavy dingy, but fun once you settle in.

We (adult crew of 6) liked the lazy bunz from bviwatertoys.com. It's like a small foam floatie that you can sit on and float around on. When we went to Bora Bora we brought blow up floaties - but sunnykm has a point about an air compressor. Our party of ten (six kids ages 8-16) did well with two sup and one double kayak plus noodles for all. Dinghy did fine with ten. Longest ride was on JVD from Roxie's around to soggy. We went with beginner sup knowing there would be more than one kid on the sup at a time.
Fishing on the mooring can be a lot of fun - very active. Fish like chicken or any left over dinner vittles. Cheers.

Noodles & a line off the stern is all you really need.

We tie a fender on a dock-line and trail it off the stern while at anchor.
For extra fun have a "fender riding contest" and make sure the video recorder is handy!

Fender riding contest! Aw-right! Wheels up in 16 days with 4 second generation newbies, new to sailing and to the BVIs, 2 of whom are in sailing schooling in Annapolis as we read. I'm looking forward to what they will teach us largely self-taught old Texas lake sailors.

I recently won an inflatable stand-up paddleboard. I had some guests with kids aboard and that paddleboard was amazing, it kept everyone occupied for hours on end and very little of that time saw the board being used by someone merely standing up and paddling.

Hey fessor my wife is in class at jworld Annapolis today any of your crew there? Im prepping the boat in Charleston to head for Annapolis in the morning. Just had a pod of dolphin swim by!

So how did they occupy themselves with the sup?

we rented pool noodles from last stop sports for $2.50 each and lazy bunz which are like diapers and had no problem holding up our big guys for $19 each from bvi water sports, free delivery from both with minimim order which wasn't hard to achieve, we enjoyed the noodles and bunz all week and both companies were easy to deal with, efficient and dropped off/picked up the toys right at the moorings front desk, we highly rate both companies
