A group of seven of us are flying to St Thomas for charter on June 12. Looking for air fares. Best today is $660. Is this a good rate? Thx

Using Google Flights, I'm seeing them for a lot less than that on that day. Were you to fly into Tortola midweek, they would also be less than that. Does your charter start on Monday? Are you chartering in the USVI or BVI?

It's on the high side, but in the ballpark. We fly out of RDU and normally pay somewhere between $500 and $600 that time of year. Ultimately though, past history doesn't count for much - it's all about market forces at the given time. As the other poster says, shop around and consider flying mid-week if you can, but I doubt you'll bring it down hugely ...

I recommend driving to Charlotte and getting on the direct CLT to STT flight. It's a little less money (not significant but probably around $50/ticket) but the upside we've found is that the timing works out much better for both leaving and coming back.

We live in the Charlotte metro area & that's about the same ridiculously overpriced amount that we're typically forced to pay. We've paid less than $400 once & as much as $1200.

That price is in the ballpark from CLT. But since you have 6 months before you go I'd set a price alert on Kayak and watch it awhile.
