First night anchorage?

We're chartering from Horizon (Nanny Cay) in January and are interested in anchorages for the first and/or last night. This is our fourth BVI Charter and in the past we've stayed at the Bight but are getting a bit beyond the Willy T and Pirates. Any thoughts on Little Harbour on Peter Island or other suggestions?

We pretty much always start with Cooper and end with Norman. They just seem to work distance/time wise.

We have stopped at Oceans Seven in Great Harbor on Peter Is. several times for our first night. Usually not crowded and a very casual place for drinks and food.

My "intended" mooring fields would depend on the weather, distance, departure time. I don't care for exposed anchorages. You'll be there in high season, same as I, so the earlier you pick up a ball the better. Little Harbour is a great start as is Cooper, weather permitting. I never end with Norman just due to my dislike of a long travel day while hungover. Appears I have an issue with making wise decisions on or around Norman Island... Wind Guru is your friend. I almost always start with Norman/Bight/Willy T. It's a quick, easy *shakedown* sail from Nanny, with a very well protected bay. The ease of that first sail and ease/comfort of that anchorage gives you crew (prob some lubbers) a chance to adjust to life on the boat without being pushed too hard. We like Marina Cay for the first night.
Last boat night is CGB, JVD, Norman or Cooper.

On charter from Nanny or Moorings I like spending the last night at Little Harbor on Peter. It's a great peaceful anchorage with only the noises of nature the way the islands were 40 years ago
It gives you time for breakfast and a snorkel before ending your week.

Deadman's Bay on Peter is nice if the weather is settled.

Just curious, how do Peter Island - Great Harbour and Little Harbour stand up in northern swells or if the wind goes a bit north. We're in a mono hull!!

We used the Bight for 1st night and Great Harbor (Peter) for the last night. Great Harbor was very quiet with several open balls and Oceans Seven had nice food - just make sure you call ahead and make a reservation. We got them on the VHF on 16.
