Great book! - 01/06/2017 02:06 PM

"Sun, Sand, Murder", a new suspense novel by John Keyse-Walker, is superb, built upon a solid base of knowledge about Anegada! Being a part-time resident of Anegada, I was delighted to read this thriller. It has a solid foundation of characters, many of which are based on real people here on this tiny island of only 300 or so people. Keyse-Walker has obviously spent a lot of time here because he so thoroughly and accurately depicts life on Anegada.

Although it is fiction, the backbone of the plot is itself loosely based upon actual events that happened here, with many intriguing twists. From the first page, I could not stop reading because each chapter deepened the suspense. The way that the author captures the simplicity and lifestyle of this island is absolutely amazing.

Many of the people in the book are actual people here on Anegada. Their names have been scrambled a bit. Nancy and I really enjoyed figuring out who was really who.

Bell, here at Cow Wreck, has a very prominent role in the book.

This is a must-read for anyone that loves Anegada!

I have chatted a bit over the past few days with the author. This book is the first of a series, all based on the BVI. His next book, now at the publisher, will be based on Virgin Gorda. He has a manuscript now of the third book, which will be based on Cuba and Anegada.

Someone else was talking about this, I will be reading it, but trying decide if I should get the digital version on my iPad, or the hard copy so I can share it with my friends.

It should make a great book to read on upcoming Grenada trip

I bought the hardback version for M for Christmas and she finished it in 2-3 days. I am going to read it so I have avoided asking her too many questions about it. Cool to hear this is going to be a series!

I'm the guilty one who first posted about this great mystery, but it's my wife, the librarian, who is to blame. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> The book caught her eye at the library and she brought it home with her. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" /> We were the first check out for the book. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" /> I really got into it, but I also got a little DIF, too. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> Can't wait for May 1 to get here, especially since we are due to get more than a dusting of snow tonight.<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/smashpc.gif" alt="" /> So, flip flop's go into the closet and the boot's come out... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

It's on my Kindle. Plan on reading it on the flight down in February. Sounds like a good attitude adjustment read.

Yup, also read it in a couple of days over the holiday break and gave away a couple copies! Great gift idea this year for those who I've chartered with. The book does dip into some of the history of Anegada, which makes me want to learn more. I haven't researched yet - anyone have any solid recommendations for BVI historical nonfiction books that may get into the details about Anegada's history, as well? Thanks!
