Moorings 4500 vs 4600 - 04/25/2017 09:06 PM

Anyone have an opinion on the Moorings 4500 vs the Moorings 4600? We have used the 4600 several times in the past and love it, but are considering the 4500-mainly for the water maker. Is it worth the extra $$$?

I wouldn't pick one boat over another because of a water maker, especially not when the 4600 holds about 200 gallons. Unless it was the same price or so close it wasn't significant.

BUT, I would take the 4500 over the 4600 for a lot of other reasons. Forward cockpit and forward galley being two of them. In addition, the 4600 is an old boat. 4500 is brand new. You'll have much more up to date systems on the 4500 as well. Not to mention electric davits vs the manual davits on the 4600.

So if you are actually considering it for JUST the watermaker, then I'd say go for it because of all the other benefits.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. I was really concerned that the 4500 didn't even have davits. (The promo video doesn't show them.) The cockpit/salon looks much more open and the water maker is a bonus. I think we'll go with the 4500!

I see what you mean. The davits are in the video, they just don't have the lines attached to them.

The 4500 looks to be a great design and none are more than 6 months old. I hope you will publish a review on the boat!
