Virgin Gorda Restaurant feedback - 01/08/2019 05:52 PM

Hello,

We are returning to VG for our 4th trip, the most recent being three years ago.

Since eating out on vacation is one of my top pleasures, I am working on my evening meal plans.

My evening list so far:

Upstairs at Leverick
Coco Maya
Chez Bamboo - having a hard time finding info on the internet/social media

For lunch:

Hog Heaven
Top of the Baths
Oil Nut Bay - any updates? Their website still shows the lunch option for non-guests
Cooper Island

Many of our old favorites are closed/gone so I am looking for any options that I am missing.

Thanks!

We were there over Xmas week...

Coco Maya was hopping, Chez Bamboo was questionably open, but Bath and Turtle is certainly going strong!

Hog Heaven is also in good shape and worth the drive.

Also if going from Leverick up to Hog Heaven or Vice Versa (Top of Gun Creek?) stop by Rada's for a Roti and then go across the street to Gunny's for the atmosphere and cold beers! 10oz Schaefer FTW!!!

My wife and I had dinner at Rock Café on our 20th anniversary. Perhaps it was partly the romance of the occasion, but we both regard it as one of our favorite meals ever. Incredible atmosphere, with outside seating areas situate among ledges of boulders. And we thought the food was amazing.

See Shaffer in the VIs always makes me smile. It was (and still remains) the cheap “old man” beer that my grandfather and my uncles drank because it’s so cheap in PA.

We adored the Rock Cafe and the Tree House but I thought they were closed due to damage. Have they reopened?

I was in VG in November and The Rock hadn't started the rebuild as yet. We also ate lunch at Oil Nut - very good meals though I don't usually eat a lot at Lunch.

Chez Bamboo was closed when we were there last year (Feb 2018) but they were using the patio/side bar area as the new Bath and Turtle. Rose was running the place, and the food was great. You could probably check with the Bath & Turtle FB page and ask them about Chez Bamboo. Top of the Baths was open and doing a nice lunch while we were there. The Guavaberry blog about rebuilding just did a post on what was open/running on the island, including some restaurants.

That you for the link. We are taking a first timer and I will send him the link.

I emailed Oil Nut Bay and their respsonse was the Marina will be open Feb 1. Does that sound feasible? We certainly don’t need to go there but the idea of lunch at the beach and some water time was appealing as our 13 yo needs a bit more activity on vacation now.

We love the Restaurant at Leverick Bay it is definitely the BEST restaurant on Virgin Gorda, also the bar downstairs is great and they have Michael Bean pirate show running Mon, Tues and Wed which may be fun for your 13 year old. Chez Bamboo and the Bath and Turtle are now in the same building and you can order from either menu and again great food. Coco Maya the spot is lovely but food is very overprices fro what you get. Hog Heaven another favorite and also Radas at North Sound amazing Rotis. Oil Nut bay is outstanding but as of 1st Feb you will be in the marina area and we have yet to experience that. Top of the Baths is great, The Rock is as yet not open. We always go to Cooper for the day as well and use Bradley Powerboats from Leverick Bay, Elaine is awesome and will help you book a private charter or a join in where you join in with other people which is fun and you meet new friends. Our kids also tried SNUBA last year and that was amazing and we would thoroughly recommend that, its new after Irma so give it a try. We love to support all the locals on the Island, restaurants , Bars and all the other activities that you can do.
