Traveler leaving the BVI tests positive after arriving in St. Vincent.

I doubt there is a shortage of asymptomatic cases here. It can keep spreading and will only be detected if someone starts to experience severe enough symptoms to seek help.

Jost Van Dyke is now on 24hr 7 day lockdown and it looks like its due to boats coming in from St Thomas

I thought it was because of the infected passenger that traveled to SVG from the BVI. Is it actually from boats sneaking in?

We were wondering if people were “sneaking around” down there - maybe not bareboat captained or day boats?

We had a group come over to CGB from VG last weekend on a center console and before they even got to the dinghy dock, the police were there asking questions. We're not seeing boats sneak in here to CGB but it would be a lot easier on JVD.

Easier on the out islands and easier at night. Enough people have been caught that one can imagine others were not caught. One woman who was caught said she was on her way from the USVI to DR. There are likely not flights from the USVI to other islands. But I thought everyone on the repatriation flights had to register with the government, so who knows.

Jason, you hit the nail on the head. Just saw on FB that Jost is now on 24-hour lockdown.

This is insanity. Imagine waking up at 6am to get find out that a curfew order has been drafted with no prior warning. all of us go back and forth to Tortola. The woman did- she spent a few days there before flying out. After 3 weeks in lock down and JVD in self isolation, WE had to continue lockdown for cases found in Tortola. This was at a time when there was almost nothing going back and forth from JVD to Tortola (except the garbage barge. So now, we have been mixing with Tortola and JVD islanders go back and forth all the time... we get a case and we have to lock down but not Torotola. and with no notice?? SO frustrating!!! What scares me is that there doesnt seem to be an effective contact tracing plan in place. I feel like quarantine for the people in contact makes sense.

Colin from JVD Scuba is on FB pleading for food and water. Is it that bad on Jost? I'm assuming due to no previous notice for the lockdown.

Lockdown started less than 10 hours ago. Make your own judgements.

Government delivered food packages to all of our houses and I saw Colin on the bay. If he had been desperate for food, he could have gotten. So in asking if it's 'that bad' no it's not 'that bad' but I think Colin's point - from reading some of his comments (and I agree with him) that it's more about the unfairness and feeling of being trapped. The policies just don't make sense. All of JVD must be locked down but we have open borders with Tortola. Tortola had cases and the government told us that everyone must lock down because we are "all in this together." I was fine with lockdown. When they extended the last week I got a bit stir crazy because they told us we were getting out and it was a hard adjustment. But this. I feel completely depressed. Many of us feel like we are in prison. We feel like JVD is second class to Tortola. We feel powerless and like we have no rights. it sucks.

Woo hoo! I tested Negative! And apparently so did the 159 other people on Jost who were tested on Tuesday and Wednesday. But they won't make an official statement until at least tomorrow.

Don't fool yourself. A more accurate statement would be the BVI is free of confirmed Covid 19 cases. There are undoubtedly asymptomatic cases or mild cases circulating. My daughter in FL got a sinus infection a few weeks ago. She called her doctor to get some antibiotics. He said get tested for Covid. She did got tested but felt fine after two days . Five days later she got the results back - positive for Covid, not a sinus infection She quarantined and contact traced. One friend had similar low grade symptoms. On Thursday this week she was tested again this time negative via rapid test. Thank god.

The CDC says there is likely 13 times more people who have been infected in the US than the current confirmed cases. That would mean the vast majority that are infected show little or no symptoms. This is really bad news for the ability to control the spread.

I wish all the best to the folks on JVD. One of my favorite places.

Most confusing post ever. Did she have it or not. Can't tell. Any way good luck to all. At the end of the day we will all get it. most of us will survive.

The SVG governmemnt have confirmed she NEVER had an infection it was a false positive. The only good thing to come from this is the confirmation that we are COVID-19 free not fooling myself just following the science and hightened border patrols
