Dec 1 Noon Update - Carpe Diem - 12/01/2020 04:47 PM

Ahoy Captains,

Update to Tues Dec 1 Noon.
Checked at the Arrivals area at the Beef Island (EIS) Airport at 11:00AM. Spoke to a very Professional and Polite Lady from the BVILove Steering Committee.
Testing for Day 4 can be done at RoadTown, Sea Cow Bay Clinic, Spanish Town VG, and Great Harbor JVD. You will need to contact through the App for a Specific Harbor/ Dingy Dock/ Taxi for pick-up for the Test.
Sorry, my mistake, Yes Anegada is also a Testing Site.
Testing to be done only in the Mornings and they plan to expedite the Batch Testing for the Yachts every day.
As of Noon Dec 1 there is a List of 15+ Quarantine Anchorages, but it has not yet been ‘Stamped’, so nothing is off limits as of Now.
Double checked at the BVI Gov Tourism office at 11:30 and all the same answers.
So, Carpe Diem.

Please appreciate the rules work both ways to Protect your Family and Friends so You can Enjoy your Yacht with No Mask, No Distancing, and No Politics.

On a 2017 Leopard 45 with 4 Doubles and 1 Single and 5 Bathrooms and AirCon and a GenSet from Dec 19 to Jan 2 for 14 Nights for $14k.

Fair Wind, Brent from The Captains Compass.

But--the question is, once they do decide what is off limits, how is that going to be communicated to boaters? Are we going to see the specter of more boats seized for violation of Covid 19 rules?

Is the exclusion zone still active?

"Day 4" testing is not available on Anegada? I had heard it would be available at the clinic. This is critical if we return.

Carol, I think the app has the ability to communicate with people in quarantine.

Is the airport not going to be a testing site? Does everyone have to go to Road Town? Add more money to the cost of a trip!

OK, I still think there is much less chance of a screw up if these things are set in stone before anyone leaves the dock..

All transportation to the testing facilities, to your quarantine location, back to testing, back to quarantine is covered by the government. You don't pay a dime.

I was at the airport yesterday and the welcome center is close to completion but not ready yet. Until it's ready, I assume everyone will go to the hospital for testing.

Ahoy Captains,

Sorry, my mistake, Yes Anegada is also a Testing Site.

Premier Fahie did promise 7+ 'Swabbing' sites on Nov 20 including Anegada.

I could not confirm anything until today so I did not repeat this information.
I cannot confirm who bears the cost for the Taxi. The Day 4 Test is included in the $175 App & Bracelet & Day 1 Test & Day 4 Test.
I am trying to clarify the Physical and Legal limits of the 'Exclusion Zone', especially regarding to BVI Based Yachts moving to/from Road Town to West End/Sophers Hole.

Are you sure about that, Jason? One of our neighbors asked me, because they are elderly and a trip into town is daunting for her. Also, the money situation seems to change. Our houses were inspected for free last week; neighbors on the other side of the island had to pay the consulting company the government hired.

I'm wondering if there are any plans to monitor the quarantine anchorages. We have a chronic problem with boaters using private docks and coming ashore.

There's a consulting company for inspections? That's a new one for me. At least you got inspected! We are still waiting to even get a response to multiple requests for inspection and had to turn away a guest as a result. I think they just cancelled.

Last Wednesday evening, the SteerCo held a meeting for Villa and hotel owners. In that meeting, she specifically said the government would be paying for all transportation until after they Day 4 test. Not sure how it will play out but that's what we were told.
