BVI Vaccination schedule

BVI Vaccination schedule - 01/14/2021 10:36 PM

Has there been any information released on when vaccinations will start in the BVI? Many smaller countries have started and Israel has already vaccinated 25% of the population. I think the best hope for easing travel restrictions is when the BVI has at least vaccinated all their high risk people. Google only turns up a mention of the BVI hoping to have the UK ship some doses in February. Is their a effort to source vaccines from other places and get started?

I don't now remember where I saw it, but there was a story about 8,000 doses imminently going to the BVI. That would be a good start.

That would be a great start. Looks like just over 30,000 residents in the BVI.

Yes, 8000 scheduled in February. I think they said first eligible will be medical and first responders.

Hopefully they can quickly get the first responders, medical and high risk vaccinated. That could perhaps get the government to drop the the 4 day quarantine. A worldwide decline would be nice to go along with that. The good news is that while the virus appears to be more easily transmitted in the latest versions mortality continues to drop.

My guess is we will be lucky if quarantine stays at four days. They are talking about lengthening it, and have already done so for residents arriving from the UK and Dominican Republic.

Short term I agree with you. I was thinking 3 or 4 months down the road when hopefully worldwide rates have dropped dramatically and the BVI has vaccinated at least their high risk people.

I think we'll be lucky if they drop quarantine by year end.
