Tracker removal locations- 5/20 charter

Tracker removal locations- 5/20 charter - 05/13/2021 07:09 PM

7 Days and counting- CDC vaccination Card in hand.

Assuming we'll be wearing our lovely tracker accessories for 36+ hours after arrival does anyone have a list of police stations, OR perhaps any other facilities authorized to remove them
once our 1-day Q has been released?
Also, is it safe to say you can lower your Q flag once your results have come in or do you have to wait until you get the band removed?
I've planned a great 10-day itinerary and can already tell that it's going to need some tweaking based on the tracker band criteria.

Such technicalities, right?...and to think we used to just worry about claiming a mooring ball in time, wind direction and which bars had the best WiFi.

Once you receive your quarantine release (different email than your test results), you can take down your Q flag.

On Tortola, you can go to Road Town Police Station, West End, Cane Garden Bay (but call first to make sure it's staffed), or East End.

Anegada (Govt. Building) and JVD (Great Harbor) each have a police station.

Someone can offer VG guidance. I know there is one in Spanish Town but not sure about others.

They may have stopped issuing trackers. Let us know what happens when you show up.

+1 on GeorgeC1 comment. We arrive one day after you and have a mixed party (2 vax, 2 no vax).

+2 on GeorgeC1 comment. Our group arrives 5/29 (4 vax adults, 5 un vax kids), so will be interested to know what your experience is. Will they issue you trackers, and how long will it take to get day zero results and subsequent Q release.

The change in fees implies they are still issuing trackers but it would make no sense to me. I guess we'll find out on Saturday.

We received different equipment on each of our three trips, including no bracelet at all in February. Point being that it's been kind of a grab bag from the start.

The flok who know on VG say the trackers don't actually work.

I can tell you for certain mine never worked. Hearing the same from quite a few people.

Tracker update:
Lots of variations on how the trackers are governed:
1. Arriving via ferry, it appears most are given paper wristbands, documentation and told that they have 24 hours to return the tracker device after release from Q or you incur a $25/day fine.
2. Arriving into EIS, Most folks are provided with paper wristbands, a tracker (some work/some don’t) And no paperwork. Verbal Instructions given are basically “return it to the airport when you depart”.

SO... we arrived into EIS however Being the proactive travelers that we are, we took ours to the Jost police station today. The constable Was very accommodating while advising us that we were suppose to bring him not just the tracker but the paper wrist bands as well.
Note, Although the wristbands are basically just concert quality throw-aways they do use them for tracking purposes so be sure to bring the following with you when you return your tracker device:
Tracker & charger cord
Wristbands, even if you cut them off yourself
Passports
Q release email - If you screenshot it, be sure it shows the part confirming that your test was negative. Important!

BTW- day 1 results took 26 hours.

I am seeing a nice trend of day 0 results coming back around 24 hours. Sounds like things have improved!

Nanchip - maybe you can confirm, but the last release email I saw for a guest was very clear to NOT cut off the wrist band. The officers are supposed to do that so they are sure you didn't remove it before your release email.

The constable said the instruction is still a bit ambiguous Depending on where/when you arrive. He would definitely have preferred to cut our wristbands off himself as he had an entire trashcan full.. my interpretation was that he just wanted to be sure they weren’t cut off prematurely and he wanted them back. Some people said they didn’t receive wristbands, which he did Not seem at all convinced of.

Heading to a police station to get the bracelet removed after 24 hours puts a wrench in our float plan (we did not have bracelets for our March journey - only the plug in trackers). Since they don’t want us to cut off the bracelets, Is there anyplace on Virgin Gorda besides Spanish Town we can go to remove the suckers? The plan was to be in North Sound for 2 to 3 days before heading to Anegada and then a leisurely next 2+ weeks wandering. The police station was never open on Anegada in March (tried to return trackers there) and ending up returning on JVD but this obviously won’t work for the band removal as it would be weeks into our arrival.

Are you arriving into EIS or ferry?
They both provide different Instruction, I would just follow their rule.
The ferry gives you paperwork to abide by whereas the airport doesn’t.

We flew into EIS, they said to return it when we flew back out. That said we didn’t return our tracker until we took our exit test 7 days after arrival.

You could taxi over to Spanishtown and have an early dinner at CocoMaya or lunch at Sugarcane. Both are worth the stop!

Thanks Jason - that is likely what we will do. Any idea how late the Spanishtown station is open?
