Be careful submitting password protected files to the portal!

Be careful submitting password protected files to the portal! - 11/03/2021 12:20 PM

Submitted our test results - the pdf from the Binax test that eMed sends - to the USVI portal, and it came back as RED!

Anyone else have that happen? Is there a different pdf available that doesn’t get kicked back? Just resubmit the same stuff again and see if someone else proves us?

Thanks for any insight!

Did you email them the password protect pdf file? You need to remove the password protection or take a screenshot of the document after you've opened it.

Thought I sent them an unlocked version - saved the file as a seperate file - but cannot be certain. I’ll do some screenshots and see if that does the trick!

Thanks Jason!

Same thing happened to me last week. Just screenshot the PDF and resubmit. Got approval quickly after that. <30 mins.

If you save the file or reprint it to another PDF from Adobe Acrobat Reader, it normally carries the password with it.

Tech Tip: to remove a password from a PDF file, use the Google Chrome Browser.
1) Save file from email to device
2) Open Chrome browser
3) Open file by pressing CTRL-O and selecting file
4) Enter password
5) Print file by pressing CTRL-P and select "Save as PDF" in Destination
6) choose a location and new filename

Thanks for that tech tip Jason - we will be using these tests to return early next month. Peter - let us know how things turn out!

@Carol - If removing the password fixes Peter's issue, can we somehow change the title of this thread. It's very misleading as there is nothing wrong with the eMed tests for the USVI and it will only add confusion.

Jason, like we spoke about last week, removing the password is difficult on a phone. The screenshot of the pdf worked perfectly. After I resubmitted, we were approved within the hour.

Resubmitted and everyone got their approval after a few hours - so it must have been that I submitted encoded PDFs. The screenshots worked great. Definitely did not do all that stuff to remove the passwords.

Thanks for all the help!

Guess now I have to go home…!

Thanks for the update Peter. I'll stop by and give TWT some love when we are there end of the month - if she's at base smile
