SJU connecting - 01/20/2022 10:03 PM

Looking at different options and logistics of booking flight from BVI connecting through San Juan then onward to Boston

Can anyone share their recent experience re how long is reasonable . Having done this many times in the pre Covid world, I always allowed at least 2 hours and wished I had more on some trips . With Covid protocols what is realistic ?

For me, COVID didn't really change the SJU experience. Just had to be prepared to show the National Guard connecting flight information to get out of luggage claim. Had to show test results to check-in at EIS but SJU was pretty much the same.

Depends on the day of arrival/departure and are you checking luggage and do you have global entry...

We have done DCA SJU EIS and back 2x in the last 6 months and have never been longer than 30 minutes at SJU

we typically fly back Monday or Tuesday. You do have USDA check before going through security which isnt long unless you forget and wait in the security line and then have to go back and do

flight out of SJU to DCA was delayed 3 and 4 hours in 2021

I'm curious about everyone's USDA experiences. I've never been asked for the sticker security, only at the ticket counter when checking bags.

I to go thru the TSA Pre-check line but not sure that really matter.

We had someone have to do a redo...we don't check bags and their sticker fell off

Precheck is usually quicker although they bring the wheel chairs through and that can slow it down...we usually have a mixed TSA pre check crew.

Have they fixed the Global Entry kiosks at SJU? They have not worked the last two times flying in from EIS, although last time was March 2020. There were so few people on the flight that it didn’t slow us down to go through the customs/immigration line though. Just wasted time trying to get the kiosks to work.
