Stolen Gas Tank

Stolen Gas Tank - 02/16/2022 02:33 PM

Saw a FB post this morning about a stolen dinghy gas tank in CGB. Evidently the tank was stolen from the dinghy dock while the crew was having dinner. We always lock our dinghy, and put it on the davits at night but will now be thinking about that gas tank too……

Even more sadly, they don't confine themselves to CGB!

I think you meant to say "still a few sketchy characters". this isn't really news.

Always lock your dink! words to live by...

I had my gas tank stolen once in St. Martin - I made it halfway back from the Marigot dock to my boat when the engine died and I couldn't restart it... it took me a while to realize why! Rowing a dinghy against 15Kt of wind is no fun smile And the next day it turned out that all the smaller tanks were sold out and all they had were $100 tanks (that was the empty price - fuel costs extra).

Ever since then my locking cable has always been looped around the 2 outboard tightening handles and through the gas tank handle.
