Filing an insurance claim 101, cont. - 02/24/2022 03:18 PM

Been almost two months since we canceled our trip due to covid and filed our initial claim with Trip Mate and World Nomads.
30 days since we were assigned a claim examiner.

This was the email response yesterday when I tried to get a status report.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Trip Mate, your partner in travel.

First, we want to thank you for your patience & understanding during our time of high volume due to the impact of Covid19.

Your email is very important to us and we will respond as soon as possible. While we strive to respond to all requests as quickly as possible, response times have been extended due to the high volume of emails and calls. Please rest assured we will respond to your initial request. Thank you for your patience.

We sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy during this very difficult period. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to rapidly evolve, Trip Mate wants to make sure that we keep you informed and that all of our customers receive useful tools if you have questions. Although we are experiencing unprecedented claims, assistance requests and call volumes, we are 100% committed to helping our customers as quickly as possible.

Below are some options to help you along the way:

Status of your claim

Our team is working around the clock to finalize claims as quickly as possible. Knowing that this pandemic will place limitations on all of us, we ask that you be patient in the weeks ahead.

At any time you can check the current status of your claim by visiting www.TripMate.com & selecting claims & follow the path.

Please allow us time to assign your claim to a Claim Examiner. Once your claim is assigned, your claim examiner will perform an initial review of the documentation you submitted. Once the initial review has been completed, we will reach out to you via email if additional information is required.

Under normal circumstance, the claims process can take up to 30 days, however, we are experiencing an extraordinarily high volume of calls, emails and claims and appreciate your understanding that additional time may be necessary to process your claim.

Patients' grasshopper.

Wow, so sorry for the poor service. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Hope you get paid.

Covid is now the excuse for everything. I have a built in Barbeque on order since November. Dealer gave me a variety of reasons all based on Covid why I don’t have it. Called the manufacturer yesterday to see how far out they are in shipping. He said that he could ship me one today and have it at my house in two days. I asked when they caught up the back orders and he said it’s never been on back order!

It’s unfortunate that this has taken so long. The good news is ultimately Trip Mate is owned by Generali, which is nearly 200 years old. This doesn’t mean they aren’t in financial trouble, but at least it’s not a 10 year old company.

Covid *is* the excuse of the day, but there’s no doubt it’s has affected Service and other industries. We just don’t have enough information to know when a company tells us “Covid” whether that’s true or not in our specific situation. It seems logical that they have a lot more claims then they had pre-Covid, but that doesn’t make you feel any better.

Hopefully, this will be rectified for you soon and you will get your claim satisfied.

cwoody--thanks for keeping us updated. Yes, Covid has been the excuse for everything these days, but in this particular circumstance, considering how widespread it was at the time you unfortunately had to cancel, it probably IS the reason why your claim is taking so long.

(And sorry, I gotta say... It's "Patience, grasshopper"... rofl )

Depends on the patient, I suppose!! When I have been waiting an hour and a half past my appointment time, I am not very patient!! grin

The etymology of the word "patient" is : he who suffers - mid-14c., paciente, "capable of enduring misfortune, suffering, etc., without complaint,"
