Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements - 04/28/2022 01:25 PM

Where can I find the cliff notes version of entry requirements into BVI for 4 fully vaccinated adults? I'm not finding anything about health insurance requirements or what type of tests are permitted. Also, about the test within 48 hours of entry, do they really mean 48 hours or is it 2 days? We will be arriving almost exactly 48 hours after we can get our rapid tests.

thanks!

From the wonderful Lynette Harrigan
Ok let’s break this down in plain English to enter the BVI and stop all the unnecessary confusion.
Fully Vaccinated Visitor: Proof of Vaccination, Medical Insurance, Negative Antigen Test.
Fully Vaccinated BVI Residents: Proof of Vaccination, Negative Antigen Test
If test is within 48 hours (two days) you do not test on arrival. If outside the two days you will be tested on arrival. No Portal
Partially and Non Vaccinated Visitor:
An RT PCR test within five days of travel, test on arrival with an antigen test. Medical insurance.
BVI Resident: An RT PCR test to enter and an antigen test on arrival.
Once test is negative you are free to go. No Quarantine
Please fill out bvigateway and upload your documents and pay the portal testing fee for approval.
The changes that were made, no quarantine once negative and an antigen test on arrival.
Please pay attention to the test that is needed by your vaccine status for entry.

As stated many times, it's 2 days, NOT 48 hours.

We flew into Beef Island on 4/23.

Our tests were 46 hours old when we arrived. No issue but they were closely checked.

Nobody asked us about insurance. We were just planning on using our BCBS cards if asked, but we were not.

Hope this is helpful to others.

Is this the test to purchase for entering the BVI and leaving the BVIs Emed BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Home Test. If so can you only buy online. Thanks

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/28/2022 05:11 PM

Yes that Binax test is the way to go and can be ordered on line.It was in very short supply but I just got my order in three days ( and forwarded some to BVI friends who are travelling). I must say I wish the BVI's would line up with the USVI and allow a test five days out. I overnight in STT both ways and this 48 hours/2 days thing means another test when I arrive. Not a big deal I know but it would be nice to see some dialogue/common sense between the US and BVI's.BTW more and more Caribbean islands are dropping all testing if you are fully vaccinated..Turks and Caicos are the latest.

Our regular insurance card. Many people buy special insurance though - many other posts about it. My point was nobody asked for it.

That's fine and dandy until you test positive when leaving and get stuck in quarantine on your own dime.

I just purchased the GoReady Choice plan. Looks like it meets the requirements I've heard about (although I've still not found official documentation of what is required in the insurance) and it was only $266 for my family of 4.

Fully Vaccinated Visitor: Proof of Vaccination, Medical Insurance, Negative Antigen Test.

Do you use the portal to enter or just present the documents upon arrival?

Just present on arrival. No portal for vaccinated guests.

Sorry, one more question... is the eMed test accepted both by BVI on the way in and USVI on the way out?

Still, yes.

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/29/2022 02:15 PM

Does anyone know the requirements if you hav a positive result greater than 10 days of arrival? Meaning the RAT test may still show positive..

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/29/2022 02:59 PM

The requirement is to have a negative test result. Be sure to purchase insurance that covers if you're concerned.

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/29/2022 04:40 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong but it isn't just an Antigen test that's accepted for fully vaxxd travelers. A PCR is also acceptable.

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/29/2022 08:26 PM

Correct. PCR, NAAT (basically the same as PCR) , Rapid Antigen (proctored) are all acceptable for fully vaxxed travelers.

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/29/2022 08:56 PM

PCR test may show positive for months after infection regardless of risk of transmission...RAT test may show positive for weeks after risk of transmission. The CDC recognizes this aspect ...does the BVI accept the parameters for fully vaccinated travellers?

NeilCanada, not sure what you are asking. Can you clarify?

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/29/2022 11:54 PM

Neil - currently the only thing the BVI accepts is a negative test. No negative test result, no entry. Vaccinated or not.

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/30/2022 12:54 PM

Thank you so much. Do you mind sharing where you got the test. Looking for good pricing I have 8 traveling so I need to order 16 test. OUCH!

Re: Entry Requirements - 04/30/2022 01:06 PM

Order the Abbott BinaxNow test from Emed.com. Six packs cost $150. $25 each is best price, includes the online proctor. Order three sets of six, you will want to have an extra test or two just in case. When you order , the website asks you to put in three names, just put in names, they are inconsequential. You will need to do three separate orders. Will need good internet connection, takes 15 minutes per test, tests can be done concurrently.

Do not open the test box until you start test process as instructions on box show. Test must be opened in front of online proctor. Testing is easy. Once done, they email you results. If you download Navica app, results sent there.

Usually takes a few days to get test. Makes sure you pack the ones you are taking carefully to avoid them being crushed. Good luck.

Great summary and info CarolinaSailor. We put ours in our carryon luggage - dividing up between individuals when we have a larger group.

Thank you CarolinaSailor. That’s what I thought. I know you are the best because of your name!
