Saba v BEYC for lunch/drinks, etc?

Saba v BEYC for lunch/drinks, etc? - 03/15/2023 10:08 PM

Ahoy, TTOLers. We are on VG, land based near the Baths at Guavaberry. The swells have not been conducive to snorkeling or just bobbing in the water this year. Even the crawl is a tad rough. Friday and Saturday are predicted to be worse, per wind finder. We are thinking of heading to either Saba or BEYC for lunch/cocktails, hanging out. I’ve never been to Saba, and not to BEYC since pre-Irma. Which would you choose? Either involves a ferry from Gunn Creek no doubt. We are headed to Leveric tonight and Coco Maya on Saturday, departing on Sunday. Thanks!

You won’t go wrong at either place. I love the upstairs bar at Saba and GAVE to visit it every time we’re down. BEYC had great pizza and overall really great. The times we had dinner at BEYC we at least had drinks at Saba before heading to BEYC. We’re be down in two weeks and Saba is on our list I also recommend the Bistro on the other side of Leverick Bay too.

Hands down, BEYC IMO. Food is great, you can hang at the beach and Happy Hour (starts at 3PM) is very fun. The bartender Saturn will keep you entertained and well liquored up.
If you wanted to check out Saba too you just have to inquire about the ferry bringing you over. BEYC and Saba, while they don't share ferries, they do shuttle people between the two when they have enough guests. I am not a fan of the new Saba but can appreciate the rebuild and understand the desire to check it out.

While we had good experiences last year at BEYC dining our last trip this Jan and Feb was not the same. Staff was very indifferent (felt like we were an inconvenience) and food was ok but not great. All other services, and the Boat Bar, were great. Could have just been the nights we were there - who knows.

We love both places and we.were so happy to see them back and flourishing on our last visit in December.2022. In one day we crammed in our favorite North Sound experiences.
A morning snorkel out on Eustatia reef, followed by lunch at Saba Rock for their Jerk Chicken Caesar salad and Bushwackers. Happy hour at Bitter End (yum, mango margaritas), then zip back over to Saba to watch the tarpon being fed, then back to BEYC for another drink while we waited to pick up two pizzas (which were very good) to take back to the boat. Beautiful new facilities and we found friendly staff at both places. Wow, a great afternoon /evening.

We did lunch at Saba, then over to BEYC for a drink, followed by a coffee. A bit of perusing gift show as well. Then back home from Gunn Creek via the road going past Hog Heaven. Final stop at SugarCane in Nail Bay for a snack and drink. Such a beautiful view. Now back in the valley amongst the boulders. We had a good day, and BEYC was hopping.

I feel like BEYC is best all around. But, you can't beat day drinking and strolling around BEYC as well as at Reef Sampler. Then if you need to at Saba for night dinner or drinks.
