Thanksgiving on St. Thomas

Thanksgiving on St. Thomas - 10/17/2014 05:19 PM

We are sailing in the BVI/USVI area in November. We are picking up some friends on St. Thomas on Thanksgiving day. We are wondering if this is a holiday too? Will everything be closed? What about restaurants?

Yes, St. Thomas is a US Territory so it's a holiday there. Many shops and government offices will be closed. On the other hand, many restaurants will be open, especially the ones that cater to tourists.

Lots of places will be open and some restaurants will have traditional options. Its best to call ahead and get reservations. Also, check with C&I for their hours for clearing in.

Government will be shut down. Most restaurants will be open, except for a few family run ones. There are quite a few transient young people so lots of places serve traditional turkey dinner with trimmings. Where are you picking up your friends? Red Hook will be hopping, for sure.

Are friends are flying in to STT and I was thinking of staying at Crown Marina. Reservations sound like a good idea. Thanks for tips!

Tickles is right at Crown Bay. Not fancy, but will suffice if you don't want to taxi anywhere. It looks like there will be a cruise ship in, so there will be action during the day in the area.
