t seems like the politicians have other plans and intend on getting the Mega Yacht marina built.
There’s big money behind it and the politicians like in the past will sell out.
Then in a few years when they have spent their little fortune they’ll cry that they were tricked into selling it by the billionaires and demand reperations.

It's nice to hear a bit of what its like to live in Coral Harbor. Tradewinds News used to have articles like this, but nothing in recent memory.

Never been there but reading that article makes me want to put it on the list. I hope we preserve what they have.

I like Coral Harbor, but I can only say that visiting Coral Harbor by boat has gotten quite difficult. The author correctly states that there are a handful of sailing families living aboard. Unfortunately there are a far greater number of derelict abandoned boats sitting on home made moorings all over Coral Harbor. Forget trying to anchor anywhere that is protected. The last few times we have anchored out toward the mouth or down near Sanders....limited protection to say the least. I am not in favor of a mega yacht marina (that would change the character of the place)but perhaps a 10 year limit on staying on a mooring?

Coral Bay's moorings really haven't changed much over the years it's like a cycle every few years boaters leave sometimes due to finances and new boaters arrive some abandon their boats and some die.
It's a community where everyone respects the ideas of others and live and let live. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

"but perhaps a 10 year limit on staying on a mooring" not sure about St.John, but many mooring in SST were purchased as sea bed permits, they are owned not leased.

My understanding is that mooring permits from DPNR are renewed annually and are not transferable. Last I checked the only spot on St. John that was still open for mooring permits was Chocolate Hole.
