Bunker Hill Hotel - late night food and bar?

Bunker Hill Hotel - late night food and bar? - 02/11/2015 05:30 PM

We don't arrive in until 10:30 Monday night. I'm going to arrange a private cab (hopefully) to pick us up at the airport to save time, staying at the Bunker Hill hotel? Anyone know how late bar/restaurant is open, either onsite or nearby? after a long day's flight, we're really hoping to sit back with a nice cold drink and enjoy the warm winds, even if it is midnight!

I would suggest eating before you arrive or asking your taxi driver to swing by someplace for takeout food. There is nothing open nearby that I would suggest you walk to that late at night.

I don't know anything about that area, but that seems wise to me, to just eat somewhere before you arrive. Suggest maybe you also might want to pack some snacks in your suitcase, for the 'munchies', and then, depending on what your requirements are for drinks, see if the taxi driver would stop at someplace that is still open and get something to take with you to drink.

I have lived here a long time and I would not go outside on Garden Street at that time of night - But I don't speak Spanish, I don't carry a piece and I don't need to meet any entrepreneurial Ladies from the DR. Just not my style - results may vary.
Stop in Frenchtown - eat drink and get a taxi to Bunker Hill for a nights sleep.

The only problem would be what would they do with their bags while eating?

Not for nothing, but maybe these folks should be re-evaluating where they are staying, based on these comments??

Before we knew better, my wife and I spent a few nights there. The property was clean, the AC worked and the staff was friendly. For the low price it worked but now that I know more of what happens in that area, I never suggest people stay there.

Local Sailor eloquently described things above.

in defence of bunker hill, we have stayed about 6 or 8 times at bunker hill, as noted above, the staff and premises are wonderful, we walk to the downtown for dinner and shopping in 4 minutes, no cab required, we have walked to the ferry terminal in about 15 min with wheeled carry-ons several times, we've never had problems around the hotel but also we don't stay out late, we don't loiter around, we don't wear excessive jewelry or get drunk, sounds like the same precautions we take at home, and also, the late night music is wonderful as it wafts up from distant bars as we sit with a drink from the local grocery store below out on the upper deck at bunker hill

as to the OP question, we were delayed one trip in Philly on United for 7 hours and didn't arrive until very late, the hotel knew we were coming and stayed waiting for us, after unpacking we went to a local food truck that was suggested by the hotel and took the food back to the hotel, it was inexpensive i recall $10, plentiful with ribs and chicken and sides and delicious. we're already booked with bunker hill for april and look forward to seeing angela and her staff again.
