STJ Villa Provisioning

Hello everyone. We are heading to St. John for the first time in June. Does anyone have any information or recommendations for provisioning services? I have used Shana at Blue Sky Management for the past two trips. I think her shopping lists are far better than any other we have used.

Not sure which rental company you went with or maybe VRBO, but many of the owners have some amount of courtesy provisions awaiting for you.

Usually a small bottle of Rum, snacks, soft drinks, and water. We have even had yogurt, fruit, and sweet rolls for in the first morning. No big deal but enough to take the edge off a day of traveling and getting situated.

I always recommend hitting the villa first just to see what is there from previous guest to avoid double buying.

However I could see where provisioning may ease the first day transition in to island time quicker.

You raise some excellent points and I have to agree that visiting the villa before shopping is the way to go. I think I'll check with our agent to see what/if our villa does. Thanks!

On this point, I was surprised that our last three villa rentals did not provide a welcome basket. Not to sound all snotty but these were high end houses and I was expecting something. In prior years there was always something, even if it was just a cheese/fruit plate and a bottle of wine.

Anyone else notice fewer welcome baskets over the past couple of years?

I sure hope this in not a trend! The welcome basket was always such a pleasant surprise.

I guess the ever climbing taxes levied on owners are starting to have effects.

We leave in 7 weeks, but it will be different this trip. We took our best traveling buds to STJ in 2008. The instantly fell in love with the island. Both retired last summer and now are living on island for a 12 month experiment - Livin' the Dream.
