--- WHY? --- Certainly my fault I mistakenly felt that including the copyright notices would document the origin. Sorry and Thanks for the correction.

Beyond the legal rights and wrongs of copyrights, thanks so much for drawing our attention to this article.
We had the extreme pleasure of visiting the bioluminescent bay on Vieques many years ago and we felt it to be one of the most incredible experiences we've ever witnessed. I hope whatever is causing this change can be found and corrected and mosquito bay can once again enjoy it's incredibly beautiful state.

We saw it last year and it was truly amazing.
Hopefully it will come back in a few weeks.

Wow, what a shame. We had our second visit there in late January and it was beautiful and magical. I hope they correct whatever is causing this.

It is interesting that they did not mention the bio bay just to the east of Mosquito called Puerto Ferro. We visited that bay a few years ago. I wonder if that bay is having problems, too. I didn't know there was a bio bay on the northeast coast.

I am happy to say the bio bay is rebounding. They are still currently studying it but the most likely consensus is the sudden wind shift this winter that drove all the micro-organisims out into the sea.
Right now tours are limited to Fridays-Sundays for low season.
There was a recent article (this past weekend I think) in the NY Times that had some inaccuracies in it. I was shocked that the NYT would not fact check.. oh well...

Yes, as the article states, back in January it went dark. It is recovering now but as I stated earlier, still limited to weekends only.

Think it will be open during the week by early Dec? We'll be there for almost 2 weeks by boat and wanted to make a couple day stop and take the tour but I don't know which days yet.

You should pick nights as close as possible to the new moon.

The bio bay is back to normal and all tours are operating 7 days a week. *** however September many businesses including tour operators are closed.
