Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/05/2014 09:33 PM

Reporting from the front lines here at Club Orient...
This innovation has come to the forefront... It's actually a baby product discovered by two New Yorkers that serves adult purposes. It has been thoroughly tested today. It works impeccably on a Club Orient Beach Chair as cup holder etc... It's a Brica Deluxe Snack Pod and is a must have if you're a frequent visitor. People seeing it are already inquiring!

We got here Monday 6/2/14 afternoon, but didn't get ours (as a gift) until this morning (6/5/14) at 9:30 a.m. It was indeed a great a gift!

Modi, you are a genius. This could be one of the best posts I've ever seen.

Does anyone have any ideas for chair covers/cushions? As we all know after a few hours, those straps are killers....

Some people make their own...
Here's the measurements that should get you there.

That is really cool, but any ideas for an actual tray that attaches to a chair? I like someplace to put my book, suntan lotion, etc.

Awesome - thanks! I always meant to bring an tape measure to the beach & always forgot.

Modi, thank you very much for the actual measurements. I know this took awhile to create in order to post. Thanks again.

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/06/2014 04:04 PM

Thanks for taking the time to post the measurements. I would love it if Club O would invest in some nice chairs with cushions. With the money they make renting chairs, they should be able to supply something more comfortable.

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/06/2014 04:21 PM

I understand why they don't have chairs with cushions, for sanitary reasons.

Google Therm-a-Rest mattresses. They're popular with hikers, and they are a godsend on those straps. They roll up into a tube that's maybe 4" in diameter. We have a couple in storage down there along with a couple straps to tie them down, I get asked about them several times every year. Have had them over 15 yrs and they're doing just fine.

Could you not put a towel on the cushion to prevent any problems the same as sitting on any other chair?
Posted By: Carol_Hill

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/06/2014 07:49 PM

Yes, you COULD. The problem that I would see is that some people might not do it.

I don't know if I would want to be seen walking on a nude beach with a tape measure. lol

Got me thinking about the effect a couple of people kind of standing on the beach by Pedro's with their tape measures might have on the cruise people!

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/08/2014 04:39 PM

We noticed today that these chairs are all manufactured by Mi-Lor Casual Inc out of Florida.
It was good to see their measurements pretty much agree with ours!

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/08/2014 06:08 PM

Glad to get the measurements! The picture also helps as we make our chair covers for our upcoming trip.

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/08/2014 06:21 PM

We are figuring out how to do the towel covers. Our towels are 77 inches long and 38 inches wide. We thought of velcro strips to hold it on the bottom and form a pocket for the top. Pockets on the sides would be nice to hold books or a drink. We could even put that cup holder you showed us on the side and fold the towel under at that point.

Thanks for the measurements!! We don't care how you got them because it helps us!

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/09/2014 02:47 PM

I ordered four of these 'cup' holders late last week and they arrived in time for us to 'test' them by the pool this weekend. I can report the test was successful and we will be taking them on our next trip.

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 06/09/2014 08:42 PM

Excellent! So now there's a second opinion! We also have canoes back home and I've been jury rigging cupholders on them for eons. I'm thinking this little Brica Snack Pod is going to be pulling some extra duty.

Beach table.. - 06/11/2014 11:10 AM

Check out the Romanoff Lap Tray Carol from Amazon. We take one on the beach, takes no room in the suitcase, sits between the loungers, and combines a table with storage for books etc etc

snack tray

Here is the url for it. I was kind of looking for something that folds. Seems to me that it would take up a fair amount of space in a suitcase.

Table in a bag

We bring one of these down with us. It straps to the side of my carry on. Very convenient and sturdy.

beach table - 06/11/2014 04:35 PM

The dimensions seem to big for carry-on to me??

What about this one, which is on your link? The leg screws off of it, so it would be totally flat, could put in a checked suitcase with ease.

Re: beach table - 06/11/2014 05:52 PM

We have both but the wine table was pretty useless if your glasses don't fit. With the table in a bag, the legs unscrew and the table rolls up. It's a little less than 30" long. With the strap, it's like carry a thick poster tube. No problems carrying it on either.
Posted By: Carol_Hill

Re: beach table - 06/11/2014 08:44 PM

Oh, didn't realize the table rolled up or that the legs unscrew. It sounds much better than I thought. Yes, the wine table wouldn't work as well if the wine glasses didn't fit.

Kim - do you know if this beach table will fit in a carryon bag?

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 11/21/2015 09:18 PM

Got ours at Babys R Us 12.99 then my niece got some for 7.99 each on line said for us not to buy she shipped them to us. Now I'll have 3 when I really only wanted one. Didn't have the heart to tell her I'd already bought one. But ti can be returned.

Carol at Kmart last summer we got a small table on cross legs that folds flat fits in carry on.

Yes, assuming the size of the carryon. I have a LLBean beach tote with zipper and it fits in that, or my suitcase I slid it in the front

Re: beach table - 04/19/2016 10:53 AM

This is the post that covered the detail on sizes of Club O loungers. This was perfect for us. We bought a cover off the Internet and it was fantastic during our last visit a few weeks ago.
Thanks, Modi!!

This is the lounger cover we bought that worked great.

There were a few cheaper covers online, but reviews were not good. This one worked great.

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 04/19/2016 06:22 PM

We got one of those last year and also a different one which clamps onto the umbrella pole and holds two cups/bottles. It has the advantage that it is deeper and does not get in the way on the side of the chair. It's disadvantage for folks with weak hands is that the clamp is really strong and takes some hand strength to take on an off. WE never used the baby version after the first day.

Got 2 but they didn't fit the chairs anywhere (except club o) on our March visit. So think I'll sell them.

Re: beach table - 04/20/2016 03:07 PM

Can you tell me if the pillow portion is a pillow or is it something you blow up when needed & then deflate for packing purposes?

Which one are you referring to that didn't work? I'm thinking about getting the one that clamps onto the umbrella shaft.

Re: beach table - 04/22/2016 03:22 AM

The pillows are like real pillows, not blow up. The cover is designed so the pillow insides can be removed for washing. The whole cover does take up room so we take it when checking bags but not when doing carry on. We really liked it this trip.
Good luck!

Re: beach table - 04/30/2016 01:06 AM

Just got the Robocup clamp on cup holder in the mail. For people thinking about ordering one be cautioned as it doesn't fit a larger insulated tumbler. Mine is being returned. It's OK for those cups from the bar or beer cans but nothing with a larger base.

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 09/28/2016 08:33 PM

We have the cupholder in the original post and it does work well on the Club O chair bars. The clamp is tightened with the large knob and it holds well. We now only use one placed between out two chairs for us to share.

Re: Club Orient Chairs - Great Cupholder Solution!! - 10/01/2016 01:52 PM

The cupholder in the original post has been discontinued by the manufacturer.
