Meat to St. Lucia? - 01/29/2020 04:05 PM

We will be going to St. Lucia in April. Can you bring frozen meats into St. Lucia? I have looked on different St. Lucia websites and can't find a definitive answer.

While you can bring in a reasonable amount of food for your own consumption you should know any fresh or frozen meats will have to be inspected by a veterinary officer. This may take a few hours if the officer is not on duty at the airport when you arrive. For what it is worth, last I heard, the officer is not on duty during the weekends.

Thanks, that's what I've "heard" from other sources too. It's not worth the hassle!

It's been a couple years since I brought food to St. Lucia, but I would just go to the "goods to declare" line and the meat inspector would take a quick look at it and wave me through. I arrived on weekdays so he was on duty and the food, meat, shrimp, sausage, cheese was in original packaging. I would also.mention that I was joining an ARC boat and going to the Grenadines so that may have helped.
