Looks like we're going to get an unwelcome guest, Matthew! Take care, everyone!

Just re-scheduled a long planned trip to Islamorada that we were supposed to fly into Miami this Friday. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

Sounds like a wise move!

Prayers and good wishes for all in the path of Matthew. I'd like to think all we're hearing about is more hype than happening but unfortunately, that's not going to be the case from current reports.

Be smart, be prepared and most of all, BE SAFE!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Each run seems to bring the storm a little closer to the Florida coast--and potentially on up the coast from here. Unless it is a direct landfall in Florida, which could well still happen, we will not get hurricane force winds here, because we are quite a bit inland, but expecting at the very least, minimal tropical storm force winds. With all our electric lines above ground here, that could cause issues..

These storms are about impossible to predict and sometimes, the least likely of places can be effected in ways we just can't imagine. Wasn't it just a few years ago that upstate NYS or possibly VT or New Hampshire were hit with major flooding effects from the rains from one of the big storms? Anyway, be aware and be safe, wherever you are as this storm draws ever closer.

Pat, I believe that was Irene. Massive flooding damage.

It was Irene. Everyone in New England gets punchy about the coastal storms, which, for the most part are greatly de-fanged before they get here.

The scenario that actually SCARES ALL of New England is when one of these suckers makes a run up the CT River Valley. That path is our real danger zone.

Well, all our furniture is inside now. Making brownies.
Went and got milk! LOL
Publix was crazy yesterday. Parking lot was insane. And dangerous. No water. No flashlights. We have 2 little ones. And our oil lamps from SXM. Rusty but they still work. And votives. If we lose power we have reservation about 1 mile inland. We are on the bay.
Scotch stocked. Got ice.
Stay safe all!

You stay safe also! We have tons of food in the fridge and freezer, so haven't gone anywhere near a grocery store, although it's not nearly so crazy around here. Ice is one thing I do need to stock up on though! Thanks for that reminder!!

Stay safe!!!!!
