Another one bites the dust, and it was our favorite.

Call them and ask for a reservation in January…,
Try their website reservation system…

All should plan to visit ASAP!

This is sad. I was contemplating Palm Springs for a trip in March and considering Desert Sun. Looks like this won't happen.

Wahnfried--I thought you were going to St Martin in March??

Carol: Yes, that's my plan now... but I was considering several options including Palm Springs. I had looked into it earlier and kind of put it on the back burner. Now it looks like I'll never visit.
There are so many nudist spots, particularly in California that are going away. I hate it.

Re-CA nudist resorts, do we think the only reason is not enough business from us nudists (I admit not being back for years) or something else going on? Possibly the younger crowd not as into it?? Many places in FL seem to be doing ok, e.g, Cypress Cove and Lake Como. Although some have turned more toward Lifestyle-oriented customers, admittedly. But that's been quite a while.

I think it's the cold hard reality of real estate. A nude resort caters only to those who want to be nude. Turning it textile opens the market to more people and more cash. Of course, the property, depending on it's location, can always be used for other purposes.

I'd love to see some of these spots that are closing turned into co-ops where we all "bought in" and ran it collectively. But I'm sure that takes a tremendous amount of work.

Regarding places going lifestyles, someone told me there are more lifestyles resorts than nudist ones, which I found a little surprising.

I think Olive Dell is also listed as for sale.

Good news for now, reservations being accepted into 2024! Visit this gem while you still can.

I don’t see it listed for sale any longer, so hopefully it was purchased by buyers that will continue to run it as a nude resort or the current owners reconsidered selling.

I am sad for Lupin, Olive Dell, and the San Diego countryside club, but Desert Sun is off my radar. I was shocked when they said we can’t have water by the pool. I mean, it was over 100° out.
Mathis wasn’t a no-alcohol concern. We could go inside our room and pound whatever booze we wanted.

It was a stupid crazy rule. I do not drink alcohol. I prefer water. I was disappointed that they didn’t tell us before we booked and they would ever make a rule like that. It is not safe!!!!

Now I usually go to exotic dreams and sometimes Tuscany Manor.

I received an email today, "WE HAVE NOT BEEN SOLD"

Return visit booked!

BTW, drinks are allowed again by the pool. That was a ridiculous rule and they realized it.

OK, that's kind of weird, but hope they make it ok.

Never would have thought the lifestylers would overtake the pure naturists venues. The Caliente’s always looked desperate to pay the bills compared to well run Cypress Cove. But Bliss Cruises are selling out bigger ships than Bare Necessities ever has. Mariner of the Seas is sold out for next week as is November Symphony of the Seas with 6000 passengers. Bliss has their April 2026 boat announced before their April 2024 has sailed. BN sailed Feb 2024 and hasn’t announced a 2026 sailing yet. Bliss does two a year and BN does one. Looks like the Lifestyle nude cruises are beating the Nudist nude cruises. In addition, Desire, Temptation, and LLV are running lifestyle cruises that are perpetually sold out around the globe. Not to mention Richard Branson’s Virgin running topless cruises with a lot of pineapple overtones.

Sorry, I don't know what this has to do with Desert Sun?

Although I did learn something today, as I didn't know there were lifestyle cruises.

We visited Desert Sun in Palm Springs from April 25 to April 30, 2024. Open for business and still clothing-optional.
