Leverick Bay and water

Leverick Bay and water - 01/16/2015 10:14 PM

Is it common for the Leverick Bay Marina to run out of water? We were there in May and again about two weeks ago on mooring balls. Each time, we pulled up to the dock to top off the tanks and each time we were told that they are out of water.

It was more than a little frustrating to wait in line for a spot just to be told they were out of the only thing we were there for. Is this common? It just makes me leery of that spot in the itinerary to top off because when it didn't work we had to adjust our route to keep from running out later.

Wow, that's peculiar .... I'll be there in ten days and planning on topping off tanks then. Hope there isn't a problem....

There have been water supply issues on both Tortola and Virgin Gorda, pretty much since the new water producer took over. I hear parts of CGB have been out for a week.

Yep this isn't a Leverick Bay problem it's an infrastructure problem. We are the government we are here to help.

As a courtesy to the guests they should put up a sign.

Are Saba Rock and Bitter End Yacht Club out of water also ?

Perhaps Charter Companies should give a heads up to customers that water conservation measures need focused attention ?

The VHF is a very handy device for communicating with a marina to find out the availability of water, fuel, slip space, etc.

Saba has their own desalination plant so the shortage should not be a issue there.

Bareboat charter boats very rarely pull up to fuel docks for fuel and assume waters available especially at the most common docks.

You mean the VHF can be used other than to make dinner reservations? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

First, I love Leverick Bay and Nick & guys hospitality!
But they are often busy, and don't/can't respond to a hail on the VHF. My experience is they don't open till 0800.

That results in a lot of jostling for a spot on the Tee dock. A couple of years ago we were on a ball, and ready to get off the ball, fetch some water and ice and be on our way. No response to VHF. And two boats just sitting waiting till opening crew arrived. Then a variation of musical chairs played by boats in front of the dock. Downright silly actually.

The management side of me wanted to get on the VHF and organize a waiting list order..reservation for 1, 2, 3. My crew took the mic from me!

Last trip we took a slip. Nick came by to say hi, as I missed him the day before. Remember I said how much we like LB and Nick!?

We topped off with water yesterday at Leverick with no problem. Saba also had water at the docks.

We had a great time at LB in June but I was very surprised to find out they didn't open till 0800. We weren't in any hurry or really trying to get an early start but we still had to wait around for the place to open just to get a couple bags of ice. Just seemed a little odd for a boating marina to have banker sort of hours. Now that I know, we can plan for that but it's always nice to get an early start to Anegada and that does make it a little difficult.

Leverick runs out of water maybe 2 days a year at the most, so it's not really a common problem.

Yes, we have learned to pay-up, top off water, and purchase ice the evening before, if we plan an early start to Anegada the next morning. Although, that said, I sometimes forget (it's an old guy thing).

After a night at Leverick of BBQ, drinks and Jumbies waking the crew by 8AM is far more problem than geting ice and water. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />
