I use an American Airlines Mastercard through Citi Bank and I just go to my web account and set the alerts. American Express offers the same function. I never thought of the idea of using Apple Pay for the alerts also. That might be pretty easy but my local bank doesn't allow Apple Pay on my Debt card.
